W. Allen "Red" Hodgins, 69

W. Allen "Red" Hodgins, was born September 3, 1956 at Belleville, Kansas,the son of William "Bill" Hodgins and Leta (Jacobs) Hodgins and passed away on October 24, 2025 at Sunset Home, Concordia, Kansas at the age of 69.

Allen attended Belleville Elementary and Belleville High School, graduating in May of 1976. While in high school, he was involved in Rodeo and was in the Kansas State High School Finals in Roping. He also worked at Dale's Western Store in Belleville assisting with shoe and boot repair. After high school, he participated in team roping.

Allen attended North Central Kansas Area Vo-Tech, Beloit, KS from August 23, 1976 until May 20, 1977 graduating with a degree in masonry.

Allen worked with his Dad, doing odd jobs and construction in Belleville. He raised cattle on the Hodgins farm and worked at the sale barn. He later did odd jobs in Belleville and raised cattle. He also worked at Reinke MFG in Deshler, NE for 3 years.

As a youth, Allen was a wrestler in high school and loved it so much he became a coach and referee for youth wrestling. He was an official KSHAA referee from 2002 until 2014 and was a member of the High School Officials Association.

He loved his nieces and nephews and would tease them to no end. The nurses at Sunset Home said they knew he was sick when he didn't tease them.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Leta; one brother, Tom; and one nephew, Timothy Allen Jarboe.

Allen is survived by four sisters, Marie (Ralph) Jarboe, Maida Lancaster, Barbara Hodgins, and Judy (Don) Melby; one brother, John Hodgins; 3 nephews, 5 nieces; 6 great nephews; 8 great nieces; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 1, 2025 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS with Waylon Sheetz, celebrant, officiating.

Interment will follow at the Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, KS.

Visitation and Viewing will be from 1 PM until 6 PM, Friday, October 31, 2025 at Bachelor-Surber where the family will greet friends from 4 PM until 6 PM.

Memorials are suggested to the Interim Hospice of Salina, KS or to the Republic County Wrestling Club and may be left at the funeral home.
