Karl "Swede" Johnson, passed away unexpectedly on December 21, 2025, at Hilltop Lodge. Born on November 26, 1949, in Concordia, Kansas, Karl was a man of quiet strength, known for his stoic demeanor and the deep love he held for his family.
Karl dedicated 19 years of his career to Cloud Ceramics, where he meticulously crafted bricks, showcasing his commitment to quality work. In addition to this skilled trade, he was a jack of all trades, taking on various odd jobs throughout his life. His experiences contributed to the wealth of knowledge he shared with those around him.
He completed his education at Concordia High School before furthering his studies at North Central Technical College in Beloit. While his formal education laid the groundwork for his professional endeavors, Karl's true pride lay in his family, particularly his grandchildren-Tylar Johnson, Wyatt Garman, Zane Garman who was fortuante to be able to spend the most quality time with him. He cherished every moment with them, whether it was fishing, taking scenic rides, or treating them to ice cream.
Known for his quiet yet engaging personality, Karl enjoyed moments of fun playing cards and sharing a drink with friends and family. In his younger years, he was also an avid motorcycle racer alongside his brother Randy, demonstrating both a sense of adventure and a competitive spirit. In recent times, he found joy in crossword puzzles and Sudoku, activities that kept his mind engaged.
Karl is survived by his beloved daughter, Amanda Garman, and her husband, Steve. He leaves behind his brothers, Kent Johnson (Yvonne) and Randy Johnson (Venita), along with sister-in-law, Lesley Johnson and all his grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, Max and Lillian Johnson, his son, Brian Johnson, his brother, Mark Johnson, and his sister, Marcia Johnson. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him, while Karl's absence will be felt profoundly by his family and friends.
In honoring Karl, family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 9:00 AM until 1:30 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. There will be no burial at this time.
