David L. Peltier, 80

David L. Peltier, age 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Sunset Home in Concordia, Kansas. He was born on January 29, 1945, to Leo and Isabell (Schuetz) Peltier.

On September 3, 1994, he married Sue (Rhine) Peterson at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Concordia, Kansas, beginning a loving partnership that brought him great joy.

Dave's true passion was his work at Peltier Steel and Fabrication, where he dedicated many years of hard work and craftsmanship. He also enjoyed spending time farming, always staying busy and productive.

Dave never met a stranger. He was known for his friendly nature and genuine curiosity about people. Conversations with Dave often included questions like, "What's your name?", "Where are you from?", and "What did you do for work?"-questions that reflected his sincere interest in others and his love for connecting with people.

In his spare time, Dave loved finding a good deal, especially if it meant coming home with more than one item. Whether it was a pickup load of pop, a case of Cheerios, angle grinders, ratchet straps, oil, antifreeze, or windshield washer fluid, Dave took pride in keeping his shop well-stocked and ready for any project. He believed in being prepared and having what was needed-often in abundance.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Isabell Peltier; his in-laws, Kenneth and Garnett Rhine; his brothers, James and Max Peltier; brothers-in-law, Don Wedel and Darwin Pelesky; and his daughter, Nicole Peterson.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Sue of Concordia, Kansas; children, Karla Barnhart of Salina, Kansas; and, Dana (Sherry) Peterson of Johnson Lake, Nebraska; and his cherished granddaughter, Aniston Peterson of Johnson Lake, Nebraska. He is also survived by his sisters, Regina Peltier (Tom Kiesler) of Clarksburg, Maryland; Elizabeth Wedel of Port Washington, Wisconsin; and Mary (Steve) Laroe of Lynden, Washington; sisters-in-law, Theresa Peltier and LaDonna Peltier, both of Concordia, Kansas; Linda (JD) Friess of Thayer, Kansas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dave will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, generous heart, friendly conversations, and the love he had for his family, friends, and community.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, with a Vigil Service followed by a Rosary Service that will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday evening, all at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas. Family will receive friends after the Vigil/Rosary Service.
