Martin "Marty" Boyer, 61

Martin "Marty" Boyer, age 61, passed away February 14th, 2026.

Marty was born. June 14, 1964 to Duane and Carol Boyer of Belleville. Marty attended school at Belleville, KS and after graduating, worked at Richardson's Jack and Jill's and later MC's / Precision Dynamics in the shipping department.

From a young age, Marty had a love of racing that started with living across the street from the Goodrich Speed Shop and watching them work on the famous 'Bell of Belleville' sprint car. As he grew up, Marty would join his cousins with racing quarter midgets on the farm to following them into the Jayhusker 3/4 midget racing series back in 1984. He received the "Most Improved Driver" award in 1985.

Marty didn't stay behind the wheel of a race car very long, but his passion for Motorsports is what the racing world would know him for. Marty began to help drivers find places to stay and work on their cars during the Belleville Midget Nationals. He earned the nicknames Mr. Midget or Mr. Belleville because of his love for the sport and the help he provided to the race teams that would come for the Belleville Midget Nationals.

Anywhere he went, the drivers would greet him, from the Chili Bowl to Angel Park Speedway where he was the grand Marshall for a race, he was amongst friends. He would become friends with Robby Flock, a California racer who came to the Belleville Midget Nationals annually. Robby would win the 1996 Midget Nationals with Marty helping him through the event. He was one of the founding members of the High Banks Hall of Fame when it started in the mid '90s. He would be a part of the race museum for years to come. He would also help the High Banks Race Track Board with both promoting and finding sponsors for the races.

Marty loved the Midget Nationals and midget racing! From holding his famous autograph parties we all knew them as the "Marty Party" to finding key sponsors, like Mopar, to be the title sponsors of the event. He would help run the popular racing site, MidgetMadness.com , which was a large resource for midget racing news in the 2000s. He would help drivers find rides and sponsors for the season with his many connections.

In February of 2008, Marty would suffer a life changing stroke that would affect his vision and mobility for the rest of his life. With the help of his racing family, he was gifted a keyboard with larger keys he could see and a larger screen so he could read it better. He would continue to communicate with the racing world and keep up with the sport he loved. In 2012, Marty would be inducted into High Banks Hall of Fame. An honor well deserved for all his years in the sport he loved.

Marty was proceeded in death by his nephew Jeremy Rush, sister Sheila (Boyer) Rush, and his parents Carol and Duane. Marty is survived by his nephew Matthew Rush, brother-in-law Dwight Rush, his Uncle Eldon Boyer, Uncle Ray and Aunt Sue Boyer, Uncle John and Aunt Linda Boyer, and many cousins.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, April 4th, at 1:00 pm, at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville. The family will greet friends at the funeral home, two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Belleville City Cemetery. Following the cemetery services, family and friends are invited to the High Banks Hall of Fame Museum for a luncheon with the family.
