Kurt Delmar Eickmann, son of Delmar & Florence (Schardt) Eickmann, was born on October 25th, 1960, in Fairbury, NE. He passed away on Tuesday, April 28th at Brodstone Healthcare in Superior, NE.
Kurt was a lifelong member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, where he was baptized on November 20th, 1960 & confirmed on April 27th, 1975. He attended elementary school at St. Peters and graduated from Davenport Highschool in 1979.
On July 31st,1981, Kurt married Deb Vap at Zion Lutheran Church in Hastings, NE, due to a pastor vacancy at St. Peters. They lived in Sutton for a short time before returning to the family farm in Sedan, NE. The Lord blessed this union of 44 years with three children, Shawni, Christopher, & Cody.
Kurt absolutely loved being at home on the farm. He was a farmer to his core who enjoyed so many things that came with farm life. Things like a good rain, watching his crops grow, and spending time with his grandkids were just a few of his favorite activities. After a meal made with love by his wife, Deb, you could usually find him playing Xbox or racing RC cars with his son Cody. Other times you could find him on a cruise in his John Deere Gator with his dogs Gus & Daisy. Wood working was a favorite hobby of his, and he spent many hours in his shop refinishing antiques & bringing new ideas to life. Kurt also enjoyed moving cattle, working calves, and going to farm auctions with his son, Chris. He dedicated his life to his faith, his family, and farming.
There are so many words that that can be used to describe Kurt as a husband, father, grandpa, and friend. He was a reliable and dependable man; someone his family & friends could always count on in every season. Kurt stood by those he cared for with quiet strength and loyalty. He remained steadfast in his Lutheran beliefs & faithful that he was headed to his eternal home in heaven until the very end of his life here on earth. Kurt leaves behind a legacy rooted in hard work, stewardship, and love for the land.
Kurt was preceded in death by his parents, sister Pauline, brother in laws; Lee Maendele, Roy Vap, Larry Vap, and Rocky Imler, and his sister-in-law; Cheryl Vap. He is survived in life by his wife Deb; three children, daughter Shawni & husband Andrew Zimmerman of Buffalo, Missouri, son Chris and wife Jacey of Edgar, and his son Cody of Edgar; seven grandchildren, Isaiah Eickmann; Reagyn May, Braxton May, and Landon Kleier; and Calvin, Austin, and Hailey Eickmann; sisters Cynthia and husband David Montague and Julie Maendele both of Hastings, Nebraska; sister-in-law Jeanne Vap-Imler of Superior, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
May he rest in peace, his work here is done, his harvest complete.
