Marilyn Colleen (Reed) Burton was born on August 26, 1931, to William John Reed and Lillian Lucille (Pressnall) Reed in Belleville, KS. She left to be with the Lord on June 2, 2026.
Marilyn grew up on a farm in an area affectionately known as little England. She had a deep love for her family, dogs, birds, reading, and BINGO. Marilyn dedicated many years of her life working as a waitress at Footes Cafe and Kravmore 81, where she enjoyed serving customers and sharing laughter through her jokes.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Lucille, twin brothers Garry and Larry, her first husband Bob Barnes whom she married in 1950, and her second husband Russell Burton.
Marilyn is survived by her children: Connie Hutchison (Ronnie) of Corsicana, TX, Cheryl Barnes Reed (Kim) of Grand Junction, CO, Roger Barnes of Salina, KS, and Johnny Barnes (Rita) of Belleville, KS. She leaves behind eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, caregivers, and friends. A special thanks to all the employees of the Belleville Health Care Center and Meadowlark Hospice in Clay Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS with Bishop Stephen Davison and Pastor Ronnie Hutchison, officiating.
Interment will follow at the Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, Kansas.
Visitation and viewing will be from 1 PM until 7 PM on Monday, June 8, 2026 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home where the family will greet friends from 5 PM until 7 PM on Monday.
