Beloit to host 34th Annual Kansas 8 Man All Star Games
The 34th Annual Kansas 8 Man All Star Football games will be played in Beloit on Saturday, June 8th. The Division II game will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Trojan Field on North Hersey Avenue. Pregame will begin at 9:30 a.m. with introduction of the players.
The Beloit Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Pep Rally for the players, coaches and fans on Friday, June 7th, starting at 4 p.m. at Chautauqua Park.

Thomas Atkins, Hanover, has been selected for the Division II East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of Hanover High School.
Hanover reached the playoffs all four years of Thomas' career. They were state champions 3 times with 3 undefeated seasons with an overall record of 50-1.
Honors and accomplishments in other sports include basketball state champion in 2017 and state runner-up in 2018.
Thomas was a member of the AAU Summer Basketball team that placed 6th in Nationals. He enjoys playing co-ed softball ad mentoring children.
Activities and honors in school include football, basketball and track.
Thomas' parents are Chris and Teresa Atkins and he plans to attend college and major in business.

Nate Buessing, Axtell, has been selected for the Division II East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of Axtell High School.
Football accomplishments include selected Twin Valley 2017 8 Man Division II 2nd Team Defensive Linebacker, Wichita Eagle/Varsity Kansas 2017 Class 8 Man Div II All-State Honorable Mention Defensive Linebacker, 2018 Twin Valley League 8 Man Division 2 Second Team Offensive Line.
Axtell was substate runner up 2 years and reached the playoffs 3 years.
Honors and accomplishments in other sports include 3 year letter winner in basketball, state tournament participant 2 years, 3 year letter winner in track.
Nate plays summer baseball, Legion baseball and is a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He enjoys playing golf, working on the farm, bulldozing and field work, riding dirt bikes, fishing, hunting and shooting guns.
Activities and honors in school include honor roll, FFA, Citizenship Award, Homecoming candidate, Student Council and KAYs.
Nate's parents are Roger and Pam Buessing and he plans to attend Southeast in Milford and become a John Deere technician.

Brody Carlgren, Courtland, has been selected for the Division II East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of Pike Valley High School.
Football Statistics and honors include: Team Captain; All District 2nd Team Defensive Back, 2016 & 2017; All State Honorable Mention Defensive Back, 2017; All Purpose Yards 882, tackles 255, touchdowns 13, tackles for loss, 5.5, interceptions 5.
Team achievements include: 2015: 7-2 record, District Runner-Up, Bi-District Champions, Regional Runner-Up; 2016: 8-1 record, District Champions, Bi-District Champions, Regional Champions, Sub-State Runner-Up; 2017: 11-1 record, District, Regional, and Sectional Champions, Sub-State Runner-Up; 2018: 4-5 record, finished 3rd in the District.
Honors and accomplishments in other sports include: Basketball-letter 3 years, 2016 Sub-State Runner-Up, 2017 League Co-Champs; Varsity Mr. Hustle Award; Track-Letter 2 years, 2016 placed 6th in 4x400m relay at State Track Meet, 2018 placed 4th in 4x100m relay and 1st in 4x400m relay at State Track Meet; 2016: Regional League Runner-Up in track.
Activities and honors outside school include Our Saviors' Lutheran Church Acolyte and mowed yard; Our Saviours' Lutheran Church Annual Pancake Supper, storm clean up, community cleanup day, farming, own sheep flock and cattle herd.
Brody enjoys hunting, fishing and working on the farm.
Activities and honors in school include band and vocal music, All School Play, KAYS, Student Council, National Honor Society, A Honor Roll & Honor Roll, Homecoming King, football, basketball and track and National FFA Organization where he received the 2016 Greenhand Degree, 2017 Chapter Degree, 2017 Diversified Crop Production, 2017 Sheep Production Entrepreneurship, 2018 National SAE Grant Recipient, 2018 Diversified Livestock Proficiency Award and 2018 Diversified Crop Production Proficiency Award.
Brody's parents are Troy and Allison Carlgren and he plans to attend college, earn an associate's degree in agriculture, go home and farm.

Collin Carlson, St. Paul, has been selected for the Division II East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of St. Paul High School.
Football statistics and honors include: 2018 Topeka Capital Journal All State Honorable Mention Linebacker Div II 8 Man, Top 100 KS High School FB Seniors Honorable Mention, Craw-Kam Southeast Kansas All Area FB Team and 2nd Team RB.
St. Paul reached the state playoffs in 2017 and was sub-state champion and state runner up; in 2018 they were District Champs and tied for the league leader.
Collin was member of the 2016 basketball team that was regional runner-up.
He attended Boys' State in 2018 and enjoys spending time with family (especially nieces), playing video games, table tennis and the piano.
Activities and honors in school include football 4 years, basketball 2 years, baseball 3 years and track 2 years.
Collin's parents are Tim and Debi Lopez and he plans to attend college and become a chemical engineer.

Cade Cohorst, Hanover, has been selected for the Division II East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of Hanover High School.
Football accomplishments include 1st Team TVL and 2nd team two times TVL plus All-State Honorable Mention.
Hanover was state champions 3 times with 3 undefeated seasons.
Honors and accomplishments in other sports include State Basketball Champions in 2017.
Cade enjoys sports, X-Box and hanging out with friends.
His parents are Jason Cohorst and Angie Sutton and he plans to attend Kansas State University

Zane Colson, Mankato, has been selected for the Division II East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of Rock Hills High School.
Football accomplishments include: 2017-2018 - All State 2nd Team Linebacker, All State 1st Team Runningback; 2018: All State 2nd Team Runningback, All State Linebacker 1st Team; 2016, 2017, 2018 - All League Linebacker, Running Back.
Football statistics include: 4,236 yards, 208 solo tackles, 232 assisted tackles, 872 yards special teams, 704 reception yards, 64 rushing TD's, 76 total TD's.
Rock Hills had a 7-3 record in 2015 and was district runner-up; 2016 - 7-2 record; 2017 - 8-2 record, District Runner-Up; 2018 - 7-2 record, District Champions.
Honors and accomplishments in other sports include: 4 time state qualifier in wrestling, 2017-18, 4th place at state 152 lbs; 2018-2019, State Champion at 152 pounds; 2 time state qualifier in track, placed 8th in the 4x100 relay team in 2017 and 2nd in the 4x100 relay in 2018.
Activities and honors outside school include playing baseball, working on a farm and working for neighbors.
Zane enjoys hunting and fishing, music, hanging out with friends, writing, playing sports and spending time with his family.
Activities and honors in school include FFA 4 years, FBLA 2 years, Student Council 4 years, Be the Change 2 years, Forensics 3 years, Scholars Bowl 1 year and Powerlifting 3 years.
Zane's parents are Joe and Christy Colson and he plans to attend Kansas Wesleyan University and major in Criminal Justice.

Tristan deKoning, Axtell, has been selected for the Division II East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of Axtell High School.
Football statistics and accomplishments include 26 games played, 141 total tackles, 5.4 tackles per game, 1 safety, 3 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries. Tristan was a two time selection for 1st Team All-League Defensive Line and one time selection for 1st Team All-League Offensive Line.
In 2017 Axtell was Bi-District Runner Up and in 2018 they were Sub-State Runner Up.
Honors and accomplishments in other sports include 2 time letterman in basketball and 3 time letterman in track.
Tristan enjoys hunting and lifting weights and he is a member of KAYS Club.
His mother is Carrie Snell and he plans to attend Highland Community College for business.

Kail Dubbert, Beloit, has been selected for the Division II East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of St. John's High School.
Football statistics include: 321 career tackles, senior year 151 tackles led 8 Man Football; 1712 all purpose yards. Honors include: 2017: 1st Team All District Defensive Lineman, All State Honorable Mention Defensive Lineman; 2018: 1st Team Runningback, Linebacker, Kicker; 2nd Team Athlete; All State Honorable Mention Linebacker, Faces in Kansas Feature; Sports in Kansas All Senior Team Honorable Mention.
St. John's/Tipton was district runner-up in 2016 and 2018.
Honors and accomplishments in other sports include State Sand Greens Golf 11th Place Individual in 2018 and State Track Team 3rd place in 2017 and 2018.
Activities and honors outside school include Kansas Honor Scholar, American Legion Baseball and Catholic Youth Organization.
Kail enjoys hunting, fishing and athletics.

Xavier Espinoza, Lincolnville, has been selected for the Division II East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of Centre Lost Springs High School.
Career football statistics, accomplishments and honors include: 2018 QB-passing 24 completions out of 36 attempts for 331 yds, 5 TD's and 2 interceptions; rushing-73 carries for 520 yds and 12 TD's; receiving-16 catches for 365 yds., 6 TD's; special teams-18 kickoff returns for 546 yds, 4 TD's, punt returns-3 punts for 92 yards and 1 TD. 2017: rushing-45 carries for 307 yds & 6 TDs,, receiving-24 catches for 505 yds and 8 TDs.
In 2015 he was selected All District Defensive Back; in 2016 he was selected All League Honorable Mention; 2017 All League 1st Team and in 2018 All League 1st Team offense and defense, All State Honorable Mention (back), Top 100 Senior (honorable mention), All District Tight End/Wide Receiver, Offensive Back, Returner (1st team).
Career defense: 126 solo tackles, 109 assisted tackles, 17 INT'S, 5 INT TD'S, 9 deflections.
Centre Lost Springs reached the state playoffs and was district runner-up in 2015, Co-League champions in 2017 and Co-League champions, and District Runner-Up in 2018.
Honors and accomplishments in other sports include: 2017: State Track qualifier (100m, 400m, long jump, 4x100m relay); 2018: Regional Track Champion (100m, long jump); State Track (100m 6th place, long jump).
He was a 4 year track letterman and 4 year basketball letterman.
Activities and honors outside school include Altar Boy (Catholic Mass) and coaching (rec.) soccer and basketball.
Hobbies ad interests include playing video games, spending time with family, traveling around the US and abroad (military family so many different states and Europe), and helping with father was away serving as the only boy with 7 sisters.
Xavier was class president, teacher's aide, assisted with football, basketball and track 2 years, member of FBLA and FFA.
His parents are Jose' and Jennifer Espinoza and he plans to attend Emporia State University and study sports management.

Dereck Gillett, Esbon, has been selected for the Division II East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of Rock Hills High School.
Football statistics and accomplishments include: 1327 career passing yards, 301 career rushing yards, 162 career tackles, career quarterback rating 110.7.
In 2017 Rock Hills was District Runner Up and in 2018 they were District and Bi-District Champions.
Honors and accomplishments in other sports include runner up at the state track meeting in the 4x100 relay. He was a member of the 2017-2018 basketball team with a 17-4 record and was named All State Basketball in 2017-2018 by the Wichita Eagle, was selected to the NPL All-Star Basketball team and played in the Cloud County All Star Game.
Dereck enjoys hanging out with the Catalina Boys and weightlifting, fishing and hunting.
Activities and honors in school include FFA, FBLA, StuCo, Principal's Honor Roll and FBIA: Business Award.
Dereck's parents are Jim and Kim Gillett and he plans to attend Benedictine College and major in strength and conditioning and play football.

Joel Hutfles, Netawaka, has been selected for the Division II East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of Wetmore High School.
Football accomplishments include selected 1st Team TVL Football Offense At Large, 2018; 2nd Team TVL Football Defense, LB, 2018; 2nd Team TVL Football Defense LB, 2017; All State HM Football Defense LB, 2017 & 2018.
Honors and accomplishments in other sports include First Team All TVL League Basketball, 2018; 4x100 relay 7th place at state, 2016; 4th place Scholars Bowl 2018.
Joel works as a dairy farmhand and enjoys fishing, hunting, doing mind puzzles and playing music.
Activities and honors in school include musical cast 4 years, play cast 3 years, STUCO President, and Honor Society member.
Joel's parents are Jesse and Connie Hutfles and John and Chary Weilert. He plans to attend Emporia State University and acquire a degree in mathematics and physics.

Hunter Koch, Axtell, has been selected for the Division II East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of Axtell High School.
Football statistics and honors include: 2 time All State Wide Receiver, Wichita Eagle 8 Man Division II; 2 time All State Wide Receiver, Topeka Capital Journal 8 Man Division II; 2 time All League TVL; Kansas Sports Hall of Fame 8 Man Career TD @ 63 and 8 Man Single Season TD Receptions @ 33.
Axtell reached the playoffs 3 years and was sub-state runner-up 2 years.
Honors and accomplishments in other sports include state track 1 year and state basketball 2 years.
Hunter plays Axtell City baseball and Corning Legion baseball.
He enjoys hunting, fishing, golf, riding dirt bikes, spending time with family and friends.
Activities and honors in school include KAYS 4 years, FFA 3 years, basketball 4 years-lettered 4 years, track 4 years-lettered 3 years, football 4 years-lettered 4 years.
Hunter's parents are Janet Koch and the late Ron Koch. His future plans are undecided.

Jonathan Lee, Melvern, has been selected for the Division II East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of Waverly High School.
Football statistics and accomplishments include: 2016: Topeka Capital Journal All-State Offensive Line HM, All Lyon County League 2nd Team Offensive Line, 95 tackles, 1.5 sacks and 1 forced fumble; 2017: Topeka Capital Journal All State Offensive Line HM, 1st Team All Lyon County League LB, 1st Tam All Lyon County League Offensive line, 114 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 2 INT, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery; 2018: All Lyon County League 1st Team O-Line and LB unanimous, 1st Team All-District O-Line and Linebacker, Wichita Eagle Honorable Mention O-Line All State, Topeka Capital Journal 1st Team All-State O-Line, 157 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 2 INT, 2 FR, 3 forced fumbles.
Waverly was Bi-Distrct Champs in 2016, District Champs in 2017; and Bi-District, District, Regional champs and Regional Runner-Up in 2018.
Jonathan was a member of the basketball team that made a state appearance, baseball team that was regional runner-up and was selected 1st team all LCL 1st base, and the track team that was 3rd in the Lyon County League.
Activities and honors outside school include Duck Wild Waterfowl, Waverly Lumber and Hardware, Waverly Rec. basketball and baseball coach.
He enjoys music, friends, traveling, billiards and golf.
Activities and honors in school include FBLA National Qualifier, FBLA Historian, FCCLA President, Scholars' Bowl League Champ, Student Council Representative and SAFE member.

Dawson Leimkuhler, LeRoy, has been selected for the Division II East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of Southern Coffey County High School.
Football statistics and honors include: 1st Team Lyon County League Tight End, 2nd Team Lyon County League Runningback, 2nd Team Lyon County League Kick Returner, HM Lyon County League Linebacker, First Team Grasslands Tight End, First Team Grasslands Runningback, Second Team Grasslands Linebacker, Honorable Mention All-State Runningback.
Southern Coffey County reached the state playoffs in 2018.
Honors and accomplishments in other sports include Honorable Mention Lyon County League Basketball and Honorable Mention All State Basketball.
Dawson enjoys playing basketball and Fortnite.
Activities and honors in school include Honor Flight, Scholars Bowl and Stuco.

Skylur Merritt, Wakefield, has been selected for the Division II East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of Wakefield High School.
Football honors include 3 time All League selection, 4 time letter winner. Statistics include 43 passing touchdowns, 37 rushing touchdowns, 1,918 rushing yds, 2,386 passing yds, 3 year varsity starter, VIP magazine article.
Team achievements include 1st playoff for the team in the past three decades and winning the league title in 2016-2017.
Honors and accomplishments in other sports include 4 time letter winner in baseball, 3 time letter winner in basketball, reaching state in baseball in 2015 and 2016.
Activities and honors outside school include mentoring little kids who attend the K-12 school, recycling and picking up trash around the community.
Skylur enjoys video games, lifting weights and working out in general and spending time with family and friends.
Activities in school include being a member of SADD and helping K-5th graders throughout school.
Skylur's parents are Brian and Kayla Merritt and he plans to attend Ottawa University and play football.

Cole Montgomery, Olsburg, has been selected for the Division II East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of Blue Valley Randolph High School.
Football accomplishments and honors include Riddell Player of the Week, four year letterman, All State Second Team Defense, Twin Valley League 2nd Team Defense.
Honors and accomplishments in other sports include: K-Man Player of the Week in basketball, State Track 2018 - 4th in long jump, 9th in high jump; 4 year letterman in track and basketball.
Cole plays summer league basketball and enjoys basketball, track and is interested in construction and engineering.
Activities and honors in school include Superintendent's Honor Roll, school play and FFA member.
Cole's parents are Lisa Pardue and Anderson Montgomery. His future plans are to attend Cloud County Community and major in construction science/engineering.

Kyle Naerebout, Marion, has been selected for the Division II East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of Centre Lost Springs High School.

Honors and accomplishments in football include selected All State Honorable Mention non-senior in 2017 and All State, All District, All American in 2018.
In powerlifting, in 2017 he placed 6th in state in Power clean, 4th in State Bench Press; and in 2018 he placed 5th in State in Bench Press and 6th in State Squad, 3rd overall.
Kyle enjoys hunting, fishing and working out.
His parents are Tony and Rachael Naerebout and he plans to become a diesel mechanic.

Jake Newton, Waverly, has been selected for the Division II East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of Waverly High School.
Football accomplishments and honors include: 2017 & 2018 All State Honorable Mention (8 Man Division II), 2018 8 Man Division II - District 2 All District, 1st Team Offense (RB), Defense (LB), and Special Teams (Returner); Lyon County League: 2018 1st Team Offense/2nd Team Defense, 2017 2nd Team Offense/1st Team Defense.
Waverly reached the state playoffs in 2017 and 2018.
Jake qualified for the State Track Meeting in the 110m hurdles in 2018.
He has been a member of Tip Top 4-H Club (Waverly, KS) for 12 years and served as president for 3 years; Coffey County 4-H Council Representative for 4 years and Coffey County 4-H Ambassador for 3 years.
Jake enjoys hunting and fishing.
He was on the Honor Roll all 4 years of high school and FBLA for 2 years.
Jake's parents are Mark and Janella Newton and he plans to attend Flint Hills Technical College and obtain an associates degree in Automotive Technology.

Carson Schreiner, Frankfort, has been selected for the Division II East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of Frankfort High School.
Football statistics and accomplishments include: 1023 rushing yards, 9.4 yards per carry, 12 rushing TD's, 9.4 yds. per carry, 135 receiving yards, 11 receiving TD's, 674 kickoff yds, 369 punt yds., 2218 all purpose yds., 4 punts returned, 2 kickoff returns.
Frankfort reached the playoff 2 times, winning 1 state playoff game.
Honors and accomplishments in other sports include TVL 200m champion, 6th place 200m at state.
Carson plays baseball, umpires and has summer jobs.
Hobbies and interests include hunting, fishing and lifting.
Activities and honors in school include FFA 4 years and Honor Roll 4 years.
Caron's parents are Robert and Dorothy Schreiner and he plans to attend Fort Hays State College and major in radiologic technology.

Daiken Stallbaumer, Hanover has been selected for the Division I East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of Hanover High School.
Football statistics and accomplishments include selected TVL All-League Quarterback and Defensive Back, All State Quarterback and Defensive Back and 2017 OPOY Finalist.
In 2015 Hanover was State Runner-Up and they were State Champions in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Daiken was member of the 2017 state champion basketball team and 2018 runner up team.
His parents are Mike and Heather Stallbaumer and he plans to attend Kansas State University and study radiology.
