Ida M. Peroutek, 86

Ida Marie (Mae) Peroutek, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2020 at the age of 86 years in Salina, Kansas. She was born July 10, 1933 in Grinnell, Kansas, to Herman and Catherine (Bierman) Broeckelman. She moved with her family to various Kansas communities including Solomon and Osborne, eventually settling in Esbon as a teenager. While in Esbon, Ida met the love of her life and was united in marriage with Bill Peroutek at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. They made their home together on the family farm they built on the east side of Esbon. Bill and Ida celebrated their 61st Wedding Anniversary in May 2011.
Along with her passion for supporting Bill and raising three children, she was a founding member of the Esbon Seniorettes and remained active for 42 years. She also was the 2010 Jewell County Honoree at the North Central Kansas Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging banquet in Salina. She was a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Parish and member of the Altar Society where she held various positions.
In 2004, after retiring from farming they moved to Mankato, Kansas, and later settled in Salina, Kansas. After Bill passed away, Ida remained in Salina where she enjoyed her Arbor Court family of friends.
Ida led her family with invaluable lessons:
Faith - A prayer can fix just about anything.
Love - Her marriage to Bill was an example of true love through the Good and the Bad. She was everyone's best friend and radiated her love and kindness to everyone.
Plan B - "Always have a Plan B". Sometimes God gives us what we need instead of what we want.
Resilience - No matter the challenge she pushed her way through it keeping a positive outlook.
Live - When you look back on your life, you will always remember the risks you took and the memories made that will last a lifetime.
Ida's greatest treasure was her family and following their many activities and achievements. She was always willing to listen and offer advice. As our biggest fan, she was always ready to cheer us on with so much love and encouragement throughout the years.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Bill; brother, Don Broeckelman; sister-in-law, Sharon Broeckelman; brother, Wayne Broeckelman; son-in-law, Tom Rickel; and nephew, Ronnie Broeckelman.
Left to cherish her memory are: daughter, Cheryl Rickel of St Joseph, Missouri; sons: Jim (Lesa) of Esbon; Kevin of Mankato, Kansas. Her grandchildren, Shara (Ryan) Redshaw of Kansas City, Missouri; Russell Hill of Omaha, Nebraska; Derek (Natalie) Peroutek of Kansas City, Missouri; Dane Peroutek of Calhan, Colorado; Paige (Sam) Thoman of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Paityn (Kendall) Kirkwood of Winfield, Kansas; Tanner Peroutek of Tipton, Kansas, Taneile Peroutek of Manhattan, Kansas. Ida will also be remembered by four great-grandchildren, Maya Thoman, Grayson Hill, Jackson Redshaw and Clementine Kirkwood; sister-in-law, Joan Broeckelman; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
A memorial funeral mass for the family and friends will be held at a later date at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Esbon.
Memorials are suggested to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church or St. Elizabeth Cemetery of Esbon.
Visitation will be held Monday and Tuesday, 8:00 am - 8:00 pm at the Williams Funeral Home in Red Cloud.
A private family rosary will be recited Monday evening at 7:00 pm.

We are implementing the Centers of Disease Control (CDC) recommendation of only allowing 10 people at a gathering at any time. This includes funeral services, gravesides and all visitations. The CDC recommends that all in-person public gatherings of more than 10 people be postpone or cancelled for the next several weeks. While we acknowledge the importance for public gatherings to honor the lives of loved ones, the CDC believes control of such public gatherings is one of the most significant resources that may slow the spread and impact of this pandemic.
We wish to continue to serve within these guidelines.
