Karen F. (Thompson) McIntyre, 81

Karen F. Thompson McIntyre was born February 6, 1939 in Lakin, Kan., to Leonard and Kathryn Davis Thompson. She went home to her Heavenly Father on May 19, 2020.
Karen grew up on the family farm at Ulysses, Kan., and also lived in Ulysses when the family moved off the farm. After high school, she went to college for one year and then joined the Army. After returning to Ulysses, she worked for the Ulysses News and later as an abstractor in a local office.
Karen met Steven McIntyre in 1968 and they were married in 1970. They had two children, Kimberly and Alan. They have six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She moved to Randall, Kan., with her family in 1974 to begin their family farm.
Karen worked at the Jewell Republican office and later at the Jewell Variety Store.
Karen was a very loving person and never said a bad word about anyone. She was always willing to help anyone in need. She worked on the farm, driving the truck at harvest and the tractor in the field. She always had a large garden and several flower beds also. Her home was filled with dried arrangements that she had made.
She loved all the farm animals, especially cats.
Karen belonged to several clubs in Jewell and Randall. The Jewell Garden Club, J Janes, Randall Progressive Study Club, Chamber of Commerce and was always willing to help with the Christian Church ladies serving meals.
Karen is survived by her husband, Steven; daughter, Kimberly (Rick) Holloway of Belleville, Kan.; son, Alan (Christine) McIntyre of Peoria, Ariz.; grandchildren, Mandy (Eric) Choat of Drummond, Okla., Wesley Peters of New Castle, Texas, Randi Holloway of Overland Park, Kan., Jade Gross of Atlanta, Ga., Tyler McIntyre of Peoria, Ariz., Alisha McIntyre of Peoria, Ariz.; great-grandchildren, Trayson Choat and Ryker Choat of Drummond, Okla., and Seren Gross of Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Linda Lamberson of Ulysses, Kan.; brother Leonard (Tommy) (Lynn) Thompson of Wichita, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.
Family members that predeceased Karen are father, Leonard Thompson; mother, Kathryn Thompson; sisters, Iyla Lee Thompson, Kathy (Mike) Brewer, Diana (Doug) Folland and brother, Richard Thompson.
Memorials may be given to the Jewell Christian Church.
Visitation is May 22nd from 2-7 pm at the Kleppinger Funeral Home in Jewell. Internment will be on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at 2:00 pm at the Wallace Cemetery east of Jewell 2 ½ miles. A luncheon will be served at the family home at noon. 2 miles east, 2 miles south and 1/8th mile west of Jewell.
