Lois Stierwalt, the daughter of Jesse and Grace (Dain) Mittan, was born on July 1, 1935 in Hebron, Nebraska. She passed away on September 16, 2020 at the Fillmore County Hospital at Geneva, Nebraska at the age of 85 years, 2 months, 15 days.
Lois was a graduate of Hebron High School. She worked as a waitress at a café during her high school years. She was united in marriage to George Stierwalt on January 9, 1955 at Hebron, Nebraska. This union was blessed with four children. After George was discharged from the service they moved to Superior where he was employed at Ideal Cement Plant and Lois took care of their family. For a few years, she was employed at the Good Samaritan Center in the kitchen. She along with George were active members of the Baptist Church in Superior.
They enjoyed vacationing every summer with the family and after retiring they enjoyed mini travel trips. Her hobbies included crafts, painting furniture and some portraits, working in her vegetable and flower gardens and canning. She loved spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband George on September 7, 2020; brothers, Donald, Russell, John, Hubert, Gordon, James, Richard, Melvin and Thomas; sisters Frieda Torring, Helen Barger and Grace Brockhoff; grandson, Zach Beale and a great-grandson, Dylan Jones.
Survivors include her children Laura Kohtz of Hastings; Tim Stierwalt of Superior; Holly Colgrove of Superior; and Kelly (Miles) Beale of Nelson; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Colgrove, Christina Jones, Joshua Colgrove, Jennifer (Adam) Neumann, Sarah Kohtz, Grace (Shaun) Chipman, Kimberly (Quentin) Colwell and Jesse Beale. 19 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Bill Stierwalt of Beatrice and sisters-in-law Sue Renter of Valley, Nebraska; Mary Wheeland of Nelson, Nebraska and JoAnn Rothchild of Superior, Nebraska along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Monday, September 21, 2020 at Megrue-Price Funeral Home, Superior, Nebraska. Pastor David Johnson will officiate.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Superior, Nebraska.
Memorials may be given to St. Jude's Hospital.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday with the family present from 7-8 at the Megrue-Price Funeral Home, 750 N Commercial, Superior, Nebraska 68978 Phone 402-879-3900
