Margie Lee (Reischick) Ahlvers was born on March 2, 1924 on a farm southwest of Glen Elder, Kan. She departed this life on January 3, 2021 at the Lincoln Park Manor in Lincoln, Kan., at the age of 96.
Margie was born to Vernon M. Reischick and Katie M. (Brown) Reischick. She attended grade school at Excelsior - District #42, high school for three years at Glen Elder High School, and graduated her senior year at Goodman High School in Goodman, Mo.
After graduation in the spring of 1942, Margie attended National Defense School in Arkansas City, Kan., and worked in an air craft plant in Wichita during WWII.
On October 10, 1942, Margie was united in marriage to Johnnie Dale Ahlvers. To this union two sons were born, Dale Eugene and Dennis Lee.
After J. Dale returned from the service, they farmed for two years in Jewell County, eight years in Anderson County, then moved to Ft. Worth, Texas, for 18 months, then to Westminster, Colo., for 30 years. In 1985, they moved to Hunter. In 1988, they started spending their winters in Donna, Texas, summers in Hunter, with camping trips to Colorado.
Margie was a homemaker and enjoyed her family children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed camping, fishing, and trail bike riding with family and friends. She belonged to the Excelsior 4-H Club as a young girl, a member of the Lutheran Church in Hunter, American Legion Auxiliary Post 77 of Hunter, and a life member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 6242, Beloit.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband; sons, Dale and Dennis; parents; sisters, Ava Laubach and Eileen Drumm; brother Roger Reischick; and two great-grandchildren, Connie and William.
She was survived by daughters-in-law, Judy and Karen; four grandchildren, Leann McKinzey and husband John, Lena Brummer and husband Mark, Johnathan Ahlvers, and Jolene Wynn and husband Shawn; ten great-grandchildren, David and Megan McKinzey, Bria Jensen, Katlin and Colton Brummer, Cameron Frayling, Jasmine and Lily Ahlvers, and Rose and Brooke Wynn; and a great-great-grandson, Kaison Frayling.
Graveside memorial services will take place at 11 AM Saturday, January 23, at Elmwood Cemetery in Beloit. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. Memorials may be given to the Lincoln Senior Center.
