Michael Gene Feight entered into rest Thursday, June 10, 2021 at the Cloud County Health Center in Concordia, Kansas. He was born in Concordia, Kansas, on October 18, 1956 to Gene F. and Teresa (Nobert) Feight, and lived his entire life in the Clyde area.
Mike attended Agenda grade school, and graduated from Clyde High School in 1974, after which he attended McPherson College to play football.
He married Johnita Tate in St. Joe, Kansas; they later divorced. To this marriage two children were born: Bryan and Robert.
Mike started competitive lifting in 1975, winning championships throughout his career. He was a state champion for multiple years in a row, holding state records, and traveled across the country for various competitions, even starting his own lifting club. Mike was also a weight trainer for the Kansas State University football team, as well as for the Kansas City Chiefs.
He was farmer/stockman his entire life, raising mainly Herefords and Black Angus, as well as (at various times) sheep, buffalo, and (most memorably) an African lion named Baby. Mike was a kind-hearted man who never knew a stranger, would always help in any way he could, and always had a story to tell.
Mike's pride and joy were his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Nothing gave him greater joy than spending time with them, whether it was playing games, teaching them how to shoot a gun and hunt, farming, or just shooting the breeze. He loved attending all of their various activities, and didn't hardly miss a one.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Joseph Feight, and grandson Robert Mitchell Joseph Feight.
He is survived by sons Bryan (Jennifer) Feight and Robert (Joelle) Feight, all of Clyde; grandsons Joseph Feight, Zachary Sorell, Lane Feight, Locklund Feight, and Roy Feight; granddaughters Breanna Feight, Autumn Sorell, Elsie Feight, Ellyn Feight, Ruth Feight, and Stella Feight; great-grandchildren Brooklyn and Canaan Barnes; brother Steve (Keri) Feight of Clyde; and a host of family and friends.
Graveside services will be 10:30 am on Monday, June 14, 2021 at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Clyde, with Fr. Don Zimmerman officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, June 13, 2021 from 1-8 pm with family greeting friends from 6-8 pm and a Rosary service at 7 pm, all at Chaput Mortuary, Clyde.
The family suggests memorials to Clifton-Clyde Iron Eagles or the Clifton-Clyde Trap Team in care of the funeral home.
