Robert Dale Blazek, son of William Blazek and Martha M. (Reynolds) Blazek was born October 3, 1942 in Los Angeles, California, and passed away on June 10, 2021 at Republic County Hospital, Belleville, Kansas, at the age of 78.
After graduating from high school in 1960 he enlisted and served with the United States Air Force. After being discharged from active duty he worked at OK Tire in Belleville, Kansas, from 1964 to 2006.
Robert was united in marriage to Sheri Lynn Heapes on August 6, 1967. In 1979 Robert and Sheri expanded their family by adopting 17 month old Michael Dale Blazek.
Robert was well known to the Belleville Community for his work as a curator for the High Banks Hall of Fame and National Midget Auto Racing Museum. He officially retired in 2016 but continued to follow his passion for racing with his son Michael for years to come.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Martha Blazek, wife, Sheri L. Blazek.
He is survived by his son, Michael (Kayla) Blazek of Belleville, Kansas, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at Bachelor-Surber Memorial Chapel, Belleville, Kansas, conducted by Pastor Mark McGregor.
Interment will be in Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, Kansas. Military Graveside services will be by the McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard.
Friends may call on Monday, June 14, 2021 from 1 PM to 8 PM at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 5 PM to 7 PM.
Memorials may be given to High Banks Hall of Fame and National Midget Auto Racing Museum or the Robert Blazek Memorial Fund.
