Marvin Vern Florea passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021 at his home in Concordia, Kan. He was born June 15, 1940 in rural Republic County to parents Irvin Dean and Verda Mae Beck Florea. When Marvin was 10 years old, the family moved from rural Republic County to the farm south of Scandia where he spent his growing up years.
Marvin responded to the gospel call to his own heart at age 16 and has been true to that choice all his life. On February 1, 1975 he was united in marriage to Mary M. Cohee at Topeka, Kan., and moved to Concordia at that time. To this union one son, Larry Gene, was born in 1980. Marvin worked for the road department of Republic County for 10 years. In 1973 he became employed at what was then Quartzite Stone Company which is the current Abram Ready Mix and was a ready-mix truck driver, fill-in batch man, and various other jobs around the Concordia plant until his retirement in 2006 after which he was a fill-in driver for a few years. Marvin's hobby was gardening.
Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, brother Dennis and sister Shirley. He is survived by wife Mary of the home; son Larry (Amy) of Concordia; two brothers Verle Dean Florea (Elaine) of Concordia and Gerald Ray Florea (Martha) of Rogers, Ark.; two nieces, one nephew and their families, several cousins and a host of friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 16, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 8:30 pm with family present from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 10:00 am at Nutter Mortuary, Concordia, Kan.
Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia, Kan.
