Larry Lawrence Heald, age 78, entered into rest on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at his residence in Concordia, Kansas. He was born October 12, 1942, in Herron, Illinois, to Lawrence and Gladys (Shroyer) Heald.
Larry grew up in Miltonvale, Kansas, and graduated from Miltonvale High School. He lived his adult life in Concordia.
Larry married Glenna (Ryser) Heald at the Baptist Church in Concordia on August 6, 1961. There were four children from this union.
Larry farmed with his father and his career was an over the road truck driver for Scrivner/Boogaarts until his retirement.
Survivors are his wife Glenna, Concordia; sister Pam Appleby, St. Louis, Mo.; sister Pat (Bob) Broyles, Towanda, Kan.; son Brad (Gina) Heald, Buffalo, N.Y.; son Marc Heald, Waverly, Neb.; daughter Trisha (Paul) Schliffke, Wamego, Kan.; son Tracy (Annette) Heald, Omaha, Neb.; grandson Nathan (Kerly) Heald, Cusco, Peru; grandson Taylor Heald, Buffalo, N.Y.; grandson Connor Heald, Albany, N.Y.; grandson Zach Heald, Lincoln, Neb.; granddaughter Hannah (William) Quintana, Orlando, Fla.; granddaughter Jenna Heald, Omaha, Neb.; granddaughter Mia Heald, Omaha, Neb.; granddaughter Hollie Schliffke, Wamego, Kan.; granddaughter Christina Webster, Lenexa, Kan.; grandson Jonathan (Kasey) Schliffke, Craig, Colo.; great-grandson Liam Quintana, Orlando, Fla.; great granddaughter Daphne Heald, Cusco, Peru; niece Brooke (Mike) Pagan and nephew Lance Appleby.
Preceeding Larry in death were his parents and brother Ronald, who died at birth.
Larry was well known around Concordia as owner of Larry's Toys. Larry enjoyed going to estate sales and would travel outside of Concordia to search for his treasurers (or "junk" as Glenna said). Larry especially enjoyed setting up a booth at the annual Walnut, Iowa Antique Show, held on Father's Day weekend for 12 years. Larry attended Walnut with all of his children in the days before his death.
Larry always took the time to help someone in need, regardless if it was a family member, a friend or a stranger.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021 from 1-8 pm at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, with the family receiving friends from 6-7 pm.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 25, 2021 at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas, with Pastor Dwight Whitead officiating. Burial will follow in the Miltonvale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Larry Heald Memorial Fund to be determined by the family at a later time for a local Charity.
