Max Lewis Tate was born April 19, 1963, in Concordia to Ray Dean and Florence Jean (Hoard) Tate. He passed away October 10, 2021 at Research Medical Facility in Kansas City, Missouri.
Max attended school in Miltonvale, graduating in 1981.
Max started working at the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) in 1983 as an Equipment Operator Specialist. Max retired from KDOT in 2011 after 27 years of service.
Max is survived by longtime companion, Donna Knight of the home; son Matthew (Lacey) of Concordia; daughter Megan of Great Bend; Donna's sons David (Nikkie) Leanna of Agra, Kansas, Justin Stanford of Omaha, Nebraska, and Brandon (Megan) Stanford of Colorado Springs, Colorado; siblings Brenda Marcotte of Concordia, Dedra (Ken) Landon, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Willie (Deb) Taylor of Concordia; grandchildren, Callum, Bethany, Austin, Jocelyn, Sutton, Cale, Kennadi, Taytem, Kaden, Peyton and Nova; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Max was preceded in death by his father, mother and stepfather (George Warren Taylor); brothers Curtis and Randy Tate; step-brother Tom Taylor and step-sister Georgie Taylor.
Max was a devoted family man who cared for Donna, his children, grandchildren and anyone he met. He always had a joke up his sleeve to make people smile and laugh. His Donald Duck impression always got a laugh from anyone who heard it.
He will be fondly missed and remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Friday, October 15, 2021 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, with Pastor Cory Shipley officiating. Burial will follow at the Scottsville Cemetery, Scottsville, Kansas. Visitation will be Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 1-8 pm with family greeting friends from 6-8 pm all at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the family and will be designated later in care of the funeral home.
