Doris Mae (Dallen) Bergstrom of rural Courtland, Kansas, daughter of Emory and Belmae (LaBarge) Dallen, was born December 18, 1950 and passed away from this life at her home on October 27, 2022.
Doris attended the Concordia school system, graduating from Concordia High School in 1969. On December 22, 1968 she married Lyle Ivan Bergstrom of Kackley, Kansas, and to this marriage three sons were born: Shawn Lyle, John Nathanael, and Karl Andrew.
Doris was an avid and loyal member of Ada Lutheran Church, where she was baptized and confirmed her faith on July 28, 1968. She loved serving Ada Lutheran Church in many capacities over the years, including serving on Altar Guild, Lutheran Church Women (LCW), chairperson for the annual Swedish Supper, and most recently having a love and passion for caring for the church, cemetery, and parsonage grounds. Doris worked for many years in the health care field in different aspects and retired from Republic County Hospital in 2020. Doris took a brief break from health care to follow her passion for cooking as she co-owned and operated the Pike Trail Café in Courtland, Kansas, ran the salebarn café at Washington, Kansas, for 12 years, and also spent several years catering, however it was her pies and cinnamon rolls that she was best known for. Doris loved and cherished the time she spent with her children and grandchildren and spoke often of how proud she was of each and every one of them.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Emory and Belmae Dallen; her son, Shawn Lyle and daughter-in-law Dinah (Bollinger) Bergstrom; sisters, Marie Folsom, Yvonne Klepper, Mary Jane Girard, Anna Lea Cherney and brothers-in-law, Jule Folsom, Herb Klepper, David Girard, Carmen Cherney, Lorraine Bergstrom, and Jerry Waite.
Survivors include husband, Lyle Bergstrom of Courtland, Kansas; sons, John (Chylo) Bergstrom of Garden City, Kansas, Karl (friend Chris) Bergstrom of Salina, Kansas; granddaughters, Corrine (Cort) Peterson of Manhattan, Kansas, Rayenah Bergstrom of Topeka, Kansas, and Meara Bergstrom of Garden City, Kansas; grandsons, Bradyn, Bryce, and Brody Bergstrom, all of Salina, Kansas; brothers, DeWayne (Sondra) Dallen of Wichita, Kansas, and Farrel (Mary Frances) Dallen of Topeka, Kansas; sisters-in-law, Lorna Waite of Salina, Kansas, Juanita (Lloyd) Haukom of Lindsborg, Kansas, and Lenita (Steve) Glanzer of Randolph, Kansas, along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Ada Lutheran Church, rural Courtland, Kansas. Inurnment will be at Ada Lutheran Cemetery, rural Courtland, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Ada Lutheran Cemetery Fund or Meadowlark Hospice.
Friends may call to sign the register book on Friday, November 11, 2022 from 1 PM to 8 PM at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas, where the family will greet friends from 5 PM to 7 PM.
