Anne Arlene (Siemon) Ost, 88, passed on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at her home west of Mankato, Kansas. Born November 9, 1933 to Everett and Myrtle, Anne was one of four children: Avis, Donald (Bud), and Anita (Mickey). Anne attended Liberty School and later, Mankato High School.
She was united in marriage on July 26, 1950, at her parents' home to Milford Ost. The newlyweds moved to Colorado Springs while Milford was in the Army stationed at Fort Carson. In 1950 they cleared a cornfield and began construction of their home. The house was completed in 1953 after they returned home with their first child, Audra. Over the next three years, they added three sons, Mike, Brad, and Larry, to the family.
Anne and Milford lived and loved in their house for 55 years. Anne was busy helping on the farm, cooking for her family as well as hired help, running errands and trying to keep up with four children. She was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church.
Anne loved reading, riding horses, helping Milford and being outside. She was an amazing homemaker and mother loved by so many. She had a circle of friends who spent a lifetime sharing their children's accomplishments and heartaches. Lila Smith, Joan Dean, Dona (Ost) Beam and Darlene Walker.
Anne was proceeded in death by her loving husband, Milford in 2005; her grandson, Ryan, in 2009; her three siblings between 2010 and 2014 and her beloved son, Bradley in 2018.
Anne is survived by her children, daughter Audra Berry, Belton, Missouri; son Michael Ost and wife Lora of Mankato; son Larry Ost and wife, Ronda of Mankato; grandchildren, Angela Sellami and family, Raymore, Missori, Brett McGuire and family, Belton, Missouri, Jesse Ost and family, Hunter, Kansas, Jennifer Cashman and family, Mount Hope, Kansas, Mariah Wells and family, Chesapeake, Virginia, Arielle Ost, also of Chesapeake, Virginia, Staci Whelchel and family, Mankato Kansas; Ryan's son, Caden, York, Nebraska; Jedediah Ost and children, Los Angeles, California; Abby Elkins and family, Burr Oak, Kansas; Cassie Seemann and family, Smith Center, Kansas; 32 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, scores of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 10:00 am at the Harmony United Methodist Church in Mankato. Interment to follow at the Burr Oak Cemetery.
Friends may sign Anne's book on Friday, November 11, from 9am to 5pm at Melby Mortuary in Mankato. Family visitation will be Friday evening from 7pm to 9pm at the funeral home.
The family wants to extend a special thank you to Solomon Valley Hospice and a loving in-home caregiver, Elizabeth Saalthoff.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Solomon Valley Transportation, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
