Kim "Kimberly" Jean (Baird) Peterson, daughter of Eugene and Dorothy (Jeannie) (Folkner) Baird, was born on March 8, 1962, in Concordia, Kansas, and raised in Hunter, Kansas. Most of Kim's adult life was spent in Courtland, Kansas. Kim joined her loved ones in heaven on New Year's Eve, 2022.
Kim graduated from Sylvan Unified High School in 1980, where she was highly active in 4-H. She earned her LPN from Cloud County Community College and worked for Belleville Long Term Care for many years. She loved being a nurse and helping people.
Kim was united in marriage in 1986 to Dan Peterson and together they had two children, Austin and Andrea Peterson. In the later years they separated.
Kim's love language was gift giving. She loved to surprise people when she found something that made her think of them. She was fun and upbeat with a huge heart and a unique, contagious laugh. She was kind. She didn't get ruffled easily. She genuinely cared about everyone, always wanting to stay updated with what was happening in the lives of the people she loved. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved attending every activity with them that she could when she was able.
Kim was an avid collector, her favorite collection consisted of nativity scenes. She also loved reading. She passed her love of movies down to both of her children. When they were growing up, she would take them to the theater often. She loved taking them on trips and whether they were swimming, playing games or visiting her family, it was always a good time. If you knew Kim, you knew she could make anything fun.
Kim was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Kelly Baird.
Kim is survived by her two children: son Austin Peterson and wife Cassadie, and their son Maverick, daughter Andrea (Peterson) Dusek and her husband Jerid, and their daughter Zoey; brother Kris Baird and wife Nancy and their children Bailey (Baird) Herter and Kaden Baird.
