Gladys Louise Miltner was born on May 11, 1919 in Beloit, Kansas, the daughter of Oscar and Emma Coffield White. She died on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the Nicol Home in Glasco, Kansas, at the age of 103.
She grew up and spent most of her life in Beloit. Following high school graduation, she attended Brown Mackie in Salina before returning to Beloit.
On June 4, 1939, she was united in marriage with Walter Miltner. Three children were born to this union.
Gladys and Walter greatly enjoyed doing things together, including square dancing and traveling the country as part of the Good Sam's Camping Club. They also enjoyed keeping up with the kids' and grandkids' activities.
She worked as a legal secretary for nearly 40 years.
In her spare time, she was always very active in both the First United Methodist Church and the Beloit community. She served as a den mother for the scouts, a member of the Beauceants Club, a member of various church groups for many years, and member and worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also very instrumental in starting the blood drive in Beloit, and organizing MCARC, which later became known as OCCK.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; her daughter, Becky; and her brother, Frederick.
She is survived by her two sons, Randy and wife Linda of Jewell and Larry and wife Melanie of Medicine Lodge; four grandchildren, Alicia, Jessica, Justin, and Kateland; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 24 at the Beloit First United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM Monday, January 23, at the Roberts Family Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given to the Church or Nicol Home.
