Eugene Victor "Gene" Herrman, the son of Victor Henry Herrman and Olena (Ingebretsen) Herrman, was born June 18, 1925 in the Norway Township at the family home and passed away on February 4, 2023 at North Central Kansas Medical Center, Concordia, Kansas, at the age of 97 years, 7 months, and 12 days.
Gene graduated from Norway Rural High School in 1941. He was a dairy farmer north of Norway, being born and raised on the same property in the Norway Community for 43 years. He later worked for the Republic County as an Appraiser for 12 years and moved to town in Norway in 1991.
He was united in marriage to Patricia JoAnn Ball on February 9, 1947 and to this union was born, Doris, Vickie, Harold, Howard, Eric, Victor, Carol and Olaf. Gene was baptized and married at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Norway.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia in 2006; son, Harold Herrman in 1975; daughter, Doris Herrman in 2016; son, Olaf Herrman in 2020; son, Howard Herrman in 2021; brother, Clarence Herrman; and daughter-in-law, Debra Herrman.
Gene is survived by two sons, Eric Carl Herrman (Pamela) of Chandler, Arizona, and Victor Earl Herrman (Laura) of Skidmore, Missouri; two daughters, Vickie Jo Herrman Hall (Gerold) of Scandia, Kansas, and Carol Lena Herrman McDaniel (Ronald) of Philippi, West Virginia; 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-laws, Paula Herrman of Norway, Kansas, and Katherine Herrman of Talmage, Kansas; other relatives and friends.
Graveside funeral services and interment will be held 11:00 AM Friday, February 10, 2023 at the Riverview Cemetery, Scandia, Kansas, with Pastor Dennis Beckmann officiating.
A luncheon will follow the services for family and friends at the Scandia Community Center, Scandia, Kansas.
Friends may call from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM Thursday, February 9, at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas.
