Margaret Edson, 85

Margaret Edson was born on June 5, 1937 in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, the daughter of Isaac and Margery Janes. She died on Monday, March 13, 2023 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas, at the age of 85.
She grew up in Newfoundland as one of 14 children. She came to America at the age of 18, and was granted citizenship in 1963.
Margaret was united in marriage with Marvin Edson, and they were privileged to spend 53 years of marriage together until his death in 2008. They raised their family in Lincoln, Nebraska, and enjoyed traveling together. She served in the Nebraska legislation for many years in the bill room, and also worked in the school cafeteria. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, and was able to sew many dresses over the years for Operation Christmas Child.
Her greatest joys in her life were her grandchildren, David and Amy. She loved spending time with them and following their activities throughout the years. Her two dogs, Buddy and Molly, were also very special to her.
In addition to her husband, Marvin, she was preceded in death by her parents, and 10 siblings.
Margaret is survived by her children, Debbie and her husband, Dennis Lutgen of Beloit, Cindy Edson of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Tammy and her husband, Gary Godkin of Lincoln; four siblings, Bessie, Barb, Lloyd, and Gary, all of Newfoundland; and her special grandchildren, David and wife Cara, and Amy.
Funeral services will be at 10 AM Thursday, March 16, at the Beloit First United Methodist Church.
Family burial services will take place at a later date in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Visitation will be prior to the service at the church.
