Arleta B. (White) Carlton passed away November 2, 2023 at the age of 94. She was born September 16, 1929 to Earl and Velma White, Glen Elder, Kansas.
After graduation from Glen Elder High School, having earned a teaching degree, she taught grades 1-8 in a one room school house.
On August 8, 1948 she married Gerold D. Carlton in Glen Elder, Kansas. To this union six children were born: Lavona, Lesa, Leila, Loeta, Lucille, and Roy Jon. At the time Gerold's passing they had been married 61 years.
Arleta loved horses and enjoyed trail and buggy rides. In addition to that she enjoyed life to the fullest, traveling with her mother and sisters, and working on genealogy. They always enjoyed telling the stories of their travels.
After living for a short period of time in Glen Elder and Formoso, Gerold and Arleta settled on the farm north of Jewell.
Arleta is preceded in death by husband, Gerold; two children, Lavona and Roy Jon; her parents; siblings, Robert, Lois, Richard, Alice; and son-in-law, Dale Wright.
She is survived by daughters, Lesa (Jerry) Houston, Leila (Dennis) Becker, Loeta Bazo, and Lucille (Steve) Black; several grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and friends.
Funeral services were Monday, November 6, 2023 at the Jewell Christian Church with Pastor Dan Daniels officiating.
Burial will follow at Wallace Cemetery Jewell, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
