MITCHELL COUNTY COMMISSIONERS - Monday, December 11, 2023

The Mitchell County Commissioners conducted their regular weekly meeting at the Courthouse Monday morning, December 11. Commissioners Jim Marshall and Tom Claussen were present. Commissioner Mike Cooper was absent.
The meeting was mostly devoted to reports by department heads regarding yearly evaluation of their employees. These were conducted in private executive sessions. There was, however, one major announcement of note.
Becky Snook, Director of Communications for the County, submitted her resignation effective January 31, 2024. She has accepted a new job with the Kansas 911 Coordinating Council. She expressed her appreciation for her years as the Director of Communications with Mitchell County.
Commissioners Marshall and Claussen approved Resolution #23-009, Resolution Establishment a Procurement Policy. The fundamental tenant of this resolution states, "A bid advantage of 5% is to be given to Mitchell County businesses in the bidding process." This will allow local vendors some consideration in the procurement process.
The Commissioners also approved Resolution No. 23-10 accepting the North Central Kansas Solid Waste Management committee report.
David Dohe was named as the Mitchell County representative to the Homeland Security Council
Annual reports pertaining to employee evaluations were accepted in closed private executive were accepted from: Brian Streit, Jeff Roburg, Jason Vetter, Becky Snook, Yvonne Melton and Heather Weston.
