Wesley Charles DePoy was born November 6, 1953, to Maurice and Rosella Fisher DePoy in Beloit, Kansas.
He grew up on the DePoy family homestead close to the Waconda Springs until the lake came in, and they moved to town. Wes went to school in Cawker City and loved playing football and helping local farmers. Wes graduated a Cawker City Pirate in 1971.
Wes married his high school sweetheart Deb Turner on May 22, 1972. To this union, four children were born. Darcel Dawn, Wesley Cole, Shawn Eric, Bryce Allen DePoy. After the dissolution of this marriage he married Cindy Anderson September 1995.
Wes has a lot of love for his family and friends. While raising his kids, Wes worked as a master welder most his life, working at Richardson Manufacturing for 25 years, and then later in Ellsworth at MaiCo for five years getting to work with both his sons Butch and Shawn.
Wes was well known for his love of gardening, cutting firewood with his dad and brothers, and helping his dad butcher. Wes had a love for the outdoors, enjoying fishing and hunting with his family. Wes was also known for his big loving bearhugs.
Wes and Cindy lived in Beverly, Kansas, until his passing. Wes is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joe DePoy; sister, Karla Doxon; and his first wife, Deb DePoy.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy of the home; his children, Darcel (Joe) Nelson, Wesley "Butch" DePoy, Shawn (Holly) DePoy, Bryce DePoy; grandchildren, Andrew (Megan) Nelson, Alec Nelson, Whitney DePoy (Gary), Alex DePoy, Braydon DePoy, Wes Jr. III; seven great-grandkids; brothers, Dan DePoy, Allen (Brenda) DePoy, Carl Suter; sister-in-law, Chebe DePoy; brother-in-law, Kurt Doxon; and a host of nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Graveside services will be at the Prairie Grove Cemetery, Cawker City, Kansas, on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 2 PM.
