Richard Garry Hake, 82, Concordia, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024. He was born on June 13, 1942 in Esbon, Kansas to Henry "Hank" and Marial "Mae" (Fielder) Hake.
Richard attended Concordia schools and graduated from Concordia High School in 1961. He married Caroline McDaniel and had one son, Randy. They later divorced. He moved to Colorado where he worked as a mechanic, at an auto parts store, and at Colorado Tire.
While living in Colorado he ran a motocross track, and enjoyed attending horse shows, with his companion, Mary. He raised longhorn cattle, including the gentle bull affectionately known as Mr. B. He returned to Concordia to be close to his family in 2017.
Richard enjoyed working on his mowers, collecting eagles and black horses, and tinkering in his garage with his neighbors. He was easy-going, loving, and was most proud of his son and his grandkids. They never got away without hearing an "I love you" or that they were sure cute.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hank and Mae Hake; siblings, Sherry Drury, Fred Hake and Angela Hake.
He will be missed by his son, Randy Hake (Michele) of Concordia, Kansas; grandchildren, Miranda Morrissey (Jimmy) of Jacksonville, Florida, Garett Hake (Kelci) of Concordia, Kansas, Megan Cherney (Kyle) of Concordia, Kansas; great-grandchildren, Jaydin and Madilynn Morrisey, and Kasen and Mavrick Cherney; sister, Dana Ketterman; and significant other, Mary Daniels of Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
Memorials may be sent to Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, P.O. Box 606, Concordia, KS 66901 to assist the family with expenses.
Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
