Ines Mae Kalivoda Dejmal of Munden, Kansas, was born September 4, 1934, at home, in rural Cuba, Kansas,. Ines was the daughter of William Kalivoda and Lillian Rundus Kalivoda. She passed away peacefully on September 22, 2024 in Abilene, Kansas, at the age of 90.
She went to elementary school in Cuba, Kansas, and graduated from Cuba High School in 1952. Ines attended one semester at Kansas State University, before returning home to marry her high school sweetheart, Don Dejmal, August 17, 1953. A few weeks after their marriage, Don was deployed for 18 months to Korea. While he was away, Ines gave birth to their first child, Janette. When Don returned home, they began their life together. They went on to have six more children and established Dejmal Farms Corporation. Don and Ines worked side by side to raise their family and develop their farming business.
Ines was a member of St George's Parish, Munden, Kansas, and participated in a nondenominational bible study in Narka, Kansas. She enjoyed advancing her skills in different art mediums through numerous classes and workshops. In the early 1970's, Ines became a pilot, earning her private and commercial licenses. Ines was an avid hunter and nature lover. She had an abundance of energy, and was a runner, completing several half-marathons. She also enjoyed cooking, travel and many adventures.
Ines was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her brother, Richard Kalivoda, of Cuba, Kansas. Ines is survived by her seven children, Janette (Randall) Blad, Homer, Alaska, Lynn Dejmal, Abilene, Kansas, Lee Dejmal, Lander, Wyoming, Lyle Dejmal, Hill City, Kansas, Karen (Michael) Fox, Independence, Missouri, Kris (LeAnna) Dejmal, Munden, Kansas, and Carol (Darren) Morehouse, Granbury, Texas. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; nieces, Paula (Kalivoda) Allred, Bentonville, Arkansas, Lynet Kalivoda Baumchen, Manhattan, Kansas; a nephew, Michael Kalivoda, Kansas City, Missouri; and numerous extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, October 19, 2024 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas, with Fr. Joseph Kieffer officiating.
The casket has been closed. Visitation will be held from 1 PM until 8 PM on Friday, October 18, at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home where the family will greet friends from 5 PM to 7 PM on Friday.
Interment will follow the funeral at the Regester Cemetery, rural Munden, Kansas. A celebration of life is planned immediately following at the Munden Community Center, Munden.
