Jane Thierolf Wallace was born February 4, 1942 in Beloit, Kansas, to Robert and Ila Thierolf. She was called to Heaven on November 24, 2024.
Jane's love for horses started at an early age fostered by her Grandmother, Mae Thierolf Cowman. They had a special place to ride at Windy Ridge which was conveniently located across Plum Creek right by the home place. Jane grew up helping with the family grain business. She graduated from Beloit High School with the Class of 1960. While in high school she was very active in band where she played the drums and was the Drum Majorette for a year. Jane then attended Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri. She was missing her horses and found a local that had horses she could ride. That local happened to be Don, the man she would marry. They lived in Nevada until 1963 when they moved back to Beloit with their son Mark. One year later Sara joined the family and they moved into the house on the corner of Highway 24.
Jane had a successful upholstery business as she was the go-to person for auto and furniture upholstery repair. She would always take a break during wheat and milo harvest to operate one of the combines, as Don would say that she was the best combine operator there was.
She was a Cub Scout den mother, a 4-H leader and served on the Mitchell County fair board for several years. Jane was involved in PEO, Delphian and Eastern Star.
She was a member 60+ year member of the Mitchell County Riders Saddle Club and a 50+ year member of the Eastern Kansas Horsemen's Association. As a family the summers were spent showing horses. She will be fondly remembered by the hundreds of youth she taught to ride.
Jane is preceded in death by her husband, Don Wallace; granddaughter, D.J. Prochaska; daughter-in-law, Julie Wallace; her parents, Robert and Ila Thierolf; brother and sister-in-law, Judd and Judy Thierolf.
Surviving are son, Mark (Shawn) Wallace; daughter, Sara (Robert) Prochaska; granddaughters, Sierra Wallace and Brooke (Nick) Terrapin; special nieces, Tami (Dan) Pruitt, Kerry (Greg) Rozman; and nephew, Grant (Deanna) Thierolf; several great nieces and nephews; and last but not least the coffee ladies.
Memorial services will be at 11 AM Wednesday, December 4, at the Beloit Methodist Church.
Visitation will be from 1 PM to 7 PM, with family present from 5 PM to 6 PM Tuesday, December 3, at the Roberts Family Funeral Home.
