Robert R. "Bob" Roush, the son of James Roush and Elsie (Sievers) Roush, was born July 17, 1962 in Grand Island, Nebraska, and passed away February 6, 2025 at the Jewell County Hospital, Mankato, Kansas, at the age of 62.
Bob grew up in Superior, Nebraska, and Mankato, Kansas, graduating from Mankato High School. He worked at Palleteers in Belleville, Kansas, and Sunflower Mfg. in Beloit, Kansas, following school.
In 1983, he was united in marriage to Becky Free and to this union was born, Luke and Sammy. The couple made their home in Formoso, Kansas.
Bob was the Transportation Facility Director for 24 years at the Mankato/Rock Hills School System in Mankato. He had been working at the Bostwick Irrigation District in Courtland, Kansas, the past three years.
Bob was the Fire Chief for Formoso, Kansas, for over 30 years and was the water/sewer maintenance for Formoso for over 24 years. Bob was a community leader and was called on for his welding, maintenance and handyman skills. He also was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Roush; brother, Richard Roush; and mother and father-in-law, Ben and Shirley Free.
Bob is survived by his wife, Becky Roush of Formoso, Kansas; son, Luke (Lauren) Roush of El Dorado, Kansas; daughter, Sammy (Alan) Sramek of La Crosse, Kansas; five grandchildren, Weston, Levi and Sadie Roush and Brayden and Emma Sramek; his mother, Elsie Roush of Nebraska City, Nebraska; brother, Ron Roush of St Joseph, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, February 15, 2025 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, 1322 19th St, Belleville, Kansas, with Randy Whitley officiating.
Interment will be at the Balch Cemetery, rural Formoso, Kansas.
Visitation and viewing will be held from 1 PM until 7 PM on Friday, February 14, 2025 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas where the family will greet friends from 5 PM until 7 PM.
Memorials may be directed to the family with a memorial to be designated at a later time.
