Janice Schumacher, 81

Janice Kay (Slate) Schumacher, age 81, passed away May 17, 2025, after a lengthy illness at Brodstone Healthcare, Superior, Nebraska. She was born on November 5, 1943.
Janice worked as an elementary school teacher in many schools as she followed her husband to Wichita, Bogue, Damar, Riley and Jewell before working for the Farm Service Agency until her retirement. She worked, raising two children, and helping on the farm. Being a farm wife as you know she was a busy woman.
She leaves behind her husband, Bill; son, Greg Schumacher and daughter-in-law Michelle Schumacher; daughter, Terri Tramel and son-in-law Peter Tramel; grandchildren, Spencer Schumacher and Valerie, Madeline Schumacher, Lewis Tramel and Noah Tramel; two sisters, Joleen Jefferies and brother-in-law- Jerry Jefferies, Jean Mayne and brother-in-law Walt Mayne; sister-in-law, Marsh Slate, and was preceded in death by her brother Loren Slate; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Kleppinger Funeral Home Thursday, May 22, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The funeral will be at the Jewell Methodist Church in Jewell at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 23.
Kleppinger Funeral Home will oversee arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Jewell Public Library.
