Mitchell County Commissioners met Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
The Commissioners approved the drug testing policy.
When the Waconda Lake was constructed, a number of acres were taken off the tax rolls because the land was under water. Since that time the affected townships have been reimbursed for the land taken off the tax rolls. The Commissioners agreed to give Cawker Township, Glen Elder Township, Walnut Creek Township and Carr Creek Township funds from the "in lieu of tax money" the county receives from the lake. The amount will be based on acreage.
Jacob Stanton's pay was raised $16.50/hr. to $18.50/hr. and Jon Weston was raised $21.50/hr. to $24.00/hr. These Road and Bridge Department employees will both be taking leadership roles in their department.
The Sheriff's budget was a decreased from the prior year.
Resolution 25-16 was signed in order to rehire Melinda Latham as Mitchell County Appraiser.
Pawnee Mental Health has requested a 5% increase in budget for next year.
The Register of Deeds budget was decreased from the 2024 budget year.
The Mitchell County Historical Museum has asked for a $3,000 increase in their budget for a total budget of $77,000.
OCCK is asking for the same budget as last year.
No decision was made in reference to the acquisition of the Becker Building for use by the Ambulance Service. This will be discussed at a later date.
