David Louis Magette passed peacefully with his family at his side on June 4, 2025, at Salina Regional Health Center. He was born on November 18, 1961, in Beloit, Kansas, to Louis and Delores (Palen) Magette. He was the oldest of five children and raised in the farming community of Tipton, Kansas. He graduated from Tipton Catholic High School and Vo-Tech in Beloit, Kansas. David worked for Harr Body Shop following graduation, followed by various agriculture related jobs where he was able to fulfill his love of nature and animals.
On July 30, 1982, David was united in marriage with Paula Cannon. To this union two daughters were born, Chasity and Tera. This union was later dissolved.
David loved doing anything outdoors including boating, fishing, and camping with his family and friends. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family and friends, and when he couldn't be with them, he would often call or text them to see how they were. You could always expect a call from him on your birthday or holidays because he was thinking about you and wanted you to know that he loved you.
David never judged anyone. He was a loving and compassionate man who shared everything he had with others, even sometimes at his own expense. He enjoyed attending daily AA meetings and supporting others through their recovery.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Delores. He is survived by his children, Chasity (Cody) Richards, Tera (Eric) Lang, and Austin Magette; sisters, Deb (Bruce) Hyman and Darnell (Bill) Winkel; brothers, Darin (Carrie) Magette and Dale (Tara) Magette; grandchildren, Wesley Smith, Cailea and Carsen Shadduck, Amelia and Oakley Hager, and Diem and Ilah Lang; step-grandson, Landen Richards; and a great-grandson, Roman Smith.
