Charlotte A. Read, 76

Charlotte A. Read, age 76, of Concordia, Kansas, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. She was born on November 22, 1947 in Concordia, Kansas, to Adalor and Opal (Demanett) Regnier.
She graduated from Aurora High School in 1965. She married Billy Joe "Tex" Read on February 2, 1966 in Concordia. He preceded her on January 28, 2013. She worked as a waitress for many years at different restaurants, such as Norman's and West Side Inn. She then went to work at St. Mary's Convent before moving to the Nazareth Convent until illness forced her to retire. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Christina Read, Concordia, Kansas; son, Todd Read (Sharon), Lafayette, Louisiana; sister, Dolores Aytes, Concordia, Kansas; grandchildren, Grant Read (Kacy), Lafeyette, Louisiana, Stephanie Grogan (Izaiah), Salina, Kansas, and Brady Read (Sara), Salina, Kansas; and great-grandchildren, Kylee Hillman and Rhea Grogan.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; grandson, Stephan; brother, Darrell Regnier; mother-in-law, Lois Read; brother-in-law, Robert Aytes, Sr.; nephew, James Aytes; and her beloved dog, Toby.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 am Friday, September 6, 2024 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, with Fr. Joseph Kieffer officiating. The family selected cremation and friends may sign the register book from 1 pm to 8 pm Thursday, September 5, 2024 with the family will greet friends from 6 pm to 7 pm all at the funeral home.
Private burial will be at a later date.
The family suggests memorials to the Charlotte Read Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
