Violet Lucille Peperkorn was born in Idalia, Colorado March 4, 1927 to Edward C. and Tiny P. (Campbell)Peters. She departed this life Monday October 5, 2015 at The Monarch in Lincoln, NE at the age of 88 years.
Lucille was baptized in Vernon, CO at the Evangelical Lutheran Church and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Jansen, NE in 1941. Her family moved to Nebraska in 1936 which included her father Edward Carl Peters, her sister Doris and her brother Harold. She was the youngest of three children and her dad nicknamed her "Babe". They lived on a farm near Jansen. She went to school at Harbine, NE and graduated from Fairbury High School. Lucille was an excellent student, winning awards for penmanship, vocal music and character. She enjoyed playing piano and sports.
She married Robert Glasscock. To that union five blessings: Russel Eugene, Glenda Rae, Linda Kay, Ronald Lee, and Gloria Jean. She remarried Delmer Calvin Erickson and was further blessed with Scott Allen and Joni Lucille. She rejoiced in the addition of three step-daughters: Merlene Kay, Janice Rae, and Linda Faye.
Later in life "Lucy" was employed in the food service business, waitressing, cooking and hosting. It was a proud moment when the Beatrice Chamber of Commerce honored her with the "Goodwill Ambassador Award". She delighted in her family, cooking, crafting, quilting, sewing, and doing embroidery work, and painting. Although she lived in many communities, Hebron was always "home".
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron since 1960 where she taught Sunday School, attended circle and did volunteer work.
She married William A. Peperkorn on May 4, 1965 in Broomfield, CO, Pastor John Northwall officiated. With this marriage, she gained three additional step-children: Pamela Jean Kluver(Darrell), William Dan Peperkorn(Diane), and Robert Wayne Peperkorn. She had the wonderful gift of uniting all into one blended family. "Lucy" and "Bill" lived in Hebron, Beatrice, and in 1978 moved to York, NE where she retired from the "Chances R" in 1997.
She and Bill enjoyed camping, especially at Alexandria State Lakes. She loved her Lord, her life, her family, and her friends. Happiness was baking birthday cakes, and each Christmas sharing her homemade candies and breads with family and friends alike. Her greatest joys in life were the births of each of her seven children. Her saddest moment was the death of her youngest child, Joni Lucille Erickson at the young age of 19 years. Joni left behind Jerry Martin who became a cherished friend of the family and continues to hold a place in the hearts of all the family members. With God's help she overcame all the world tossed at her and saw beauty in each new day. She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Our sorrow will fade, but never leave us. Her memory will bring us laughter and tears. Now we must wait until that day when the Lord calls each of us "home" to join her with Jesus in Heaven.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, daughters Joni Erickson December 23, 1977, and Linda McLaughlin September 3, 2010, brother Harold Peters, brother-in-law Jesse Graham, and son-in-law Al Pfingsten.
