Earl Bernhard Werner of Deshler, NE, formerly of Carleton, the son of Bernhard and Caroline (Vortman) Werner was born September 1, 1917 in Carleton, NE. He departed this life Sunday December 18, 2016 at Thayer County Health Services in Hebron, NE at the age of 99 years.
He was baptized September 10, 1917 by Henry Schabacker and confirmed May 17, 1931 by Theadore Drogemueller both at Trinity Lutheran Church Friedensau, rural Hebron.
Earl grew up in the Carleton area and graduated from Carleton High School.
Earl was a farmer and dairyman all of his life. He was instrumental in improving dairy herds and milking a large herd of cows most of his life. He was aware of God's great creation with animals and crops.
He was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church helping with numerous activities.
Earl enjoyed his yard work, gardening, playing cards, watching TV, but most of all visiting with family especially the grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Matilda, grandson Bryan Heinrichs, brother Elmer Werner and wife Marge, sister Norma Magnus and husband Wilbert, one infant brother,
He is survived by two sons; Eugene and wife Elaine of Carleton, NE, and Doug Fintel and wife Janice of Bruning, NE, one daughter MaryAnn Heinrichs and husband Larry of Davenport, NE, grandchildren; Teresa Drake and husband Brian of Lincoln, NE, Jason Werner and Jody Walford and husband Dan both of Lincoln, NE, Amy Peterson and husband Aaron of Bruning, NE, Aaron Fintel and wife Jodi of Fairmont, NE, great-grandchildren Austin Drake, Hudson and Hunter Fintel, and Asher Peterson, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Friedensau, rural Hebron. Officiant Reverend Jose Flores, organist Lois Pohlmann, congregational hymns "Amazing Grace", "Precious Lord Take My Hand", and "Joy To The World", casket bearers Aaron Fintel, Brian Drake, Jason Werner, Dan Walford, Aaron Peterson, and Austin Drake, honorary casket bearers; Tom and Alan Christiansen, Mark, Ivan and Kirk Fintel, Dale and Gene Werner, burial will be in the church cemetery.
