Alice L. Rice, 94

Alice Le Rice was born on January 20, 1928 on the family farm near Mankato, Kansas, the daughter of Floyd and Mary Sweet May. She died Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 94.
Alice grew up and attended schools in Mankato, where she traveled with her father on a wagon, and later graduated from Mankato High School.
On February 2, 1945, she was united in marriage with Ernest "Ernie" Rice in Beloit. Two daughters, Sharon and Charlene, were born to this union. They were privileged to spend nearly 58 years of marriage together when he died in January 2003.
While Ernie owned and operated the Rice Standard Service Station in Beloit, she served those years as the bookkeeper. She also worked many years in the Dietary Department at the Mitchell County Hospital.
In her spare time, Alice loved working in her yard, as well as camping with family. She also enjoyed doing her word search books, and reading until her eyesight wouldn't let her do so. She greatly loved her family, and followed all of her grandchildren's activities.
In addition to her husband, Ernie, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Tom, John, and Harold May; her sister, Margaret Ketterer; and her grandson, Travis Bourbina.
Alice is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Kadel and her husband Larry of Beloit, and Charlene Bourbina and her husband Kenneth of Abilene; her sister, Mary Sue Elsey of Glenwood, Iowa; grandchildren, Barry Kadel and his wife Melinda, and Buffy True and her husband Mark; great-grandchildren, Kade True and his wife McKenzie, Kyle True and his wife Heather, Kray True, Kaylyn Kadel and Karington Kadel; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2 PM Wednesday, May 11, at the Roberts Family Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1-7 PM with family present from 5-6 PM Tuesday, May 10, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the Beloit First United Methodist Church or the Perdue House.
