Margaret L. Duffey. 90

Margaret Louise Duffey, the daughter of Millard Berkley Shadduck and Mary Catherine (Heater) Shadduck, was born March 24, 1932 in rural Republic, Kansas, and passed away on June 15, 2022 at the Smith Center Health and Rehab, Smith Center, Kansas, at the age of 90 years, 2 months, and 21 days.
Margaret grew up in rural Republic, Kansas, graduating from Republic High School in 1950. On February 27, 1951, she was united in marriage to James R. Duffey and to this union was born: Lori Ann, Staci Jo, and Tina Louise.
Margaret worked at the REA office in Concordia after her marriage. Margaret later worked for the Civil Service of the United States Air Force as an office clerk as the couple moved overseas to Japan and were stationed in many locations following his military career, among them being Altus Air Force Base from 1963-1966, Laramie AFB, Wyoming from 1966 until 1968 and later Compton, California, and Brighton, Colorado. After 1970, the couple settled in Mankato and later Formoso, moving to Belleville, Kansas, in 1992.
Margaret was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and also a member of the Eastern Star, and the First United Methodist Church and UMW in Belleville, Kansas. She also was active in EHU.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Millard and Mary Shadduck; her husband, James R. Duffey on April 2, 2012; brothers, Gerald, Adron, and Richard Shadduck; and sisters, Lois Lundblade and Roberta Partridge.
Margaret is survived by three daughters, Lori (David) Barnes of Smith Center, Kansas, Staci (Rick) Allen of Lee's Summit, Missouri, and Tina (Kevin) Mills of Chesapeake, Virginia; eight grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Joyce (Marvin) Poppe of Chester, Nebraska; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, June 20, 2022 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas.
Interment will follow at the Washington Cemetery, rural Republic, Kansas.
Friends may call from 1 PM until 8 PM on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 9:30 AM until service time on Monday prior to the service.
