MITCHELL COUNTY COMMISSIONERS – Monday, June 27, 2022

The Mitchell Commissioners conducted their regular weekly meeting at the Courthouse Monday, June 27th. Commissioners Tom Claussen and Mike Cooper attended in person and Commissioner Jim Marshall participated via a Zoom connection.
The Commissioners approved two Neighborhood Revitalization Grant applications. One was from Brent and Kim Budke for the construction of a new house in the amount of $357,042. The second application was from Robert and Steph Jones for an 18' x 60' addition to an existing building in the amount of $45,500.
A cereal malt beverage license was approved for the Beloit Pizza Hut. The license is for on premises consumption with no carry out allowed.
Stewart Porter, Mitchell County engineer, was present to a provide a progress report to the Commissioners in regard to the new County Sop building. He said Senger Construction is working on the first stage of the project, pouring footings. Porter went on the say that the progress of the project is about where he would want it to be at this time.
Cortney Murrow, County Health official, made an appearance to discuss the elimination of Home Health services provided by the Mitchell County Health Department. A press release provided by Murrow said, in part:
"The Mitchell County Commissioners and the Mitchell County Health Department Administrator underwent an extensive multi-year review of the home health services provided by the North Central Kansas Home Health Agency (NCK Home Health) and the Mitchell County Home Health Agency (MCHD). After completion of this review, it was determined by Mitchell County Commissioners that the NCK Home Health Agency will be voluntarily terminating its home health license effective September 30th, 2022.
