Ronald E. Schleuder, 80

Ronald E. Schleuder, age 80, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022 in Topeka, Kansas. He was born April 27, 1942 in Concordia, Kansas, to Lawrence and Dolores (Lanoue) Schleuder.
Ron was a 1960 graduate of Concordia High School, Concordia, Kansas, where he lettered in football, basketball and track.
He joined and served in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1967, achieving the rank of Seargent. He also was involved in the Aero Space Academy Program during his time in the Air Force. When his four year term was nearing an end, he was asked to continue on as an Air Frame and Power Plant instructor, but declined, instead deciding to pursue his boyhood love of big trucks.
He was an over the road truck driver for several different companies for many years. Ron was also a Driver's License Examiner in Topeka for the Kansas Department of Motor Vehicles.
Ron received his private pilot's license in Topeka, Kansas, and enjoyed flying, just like his father Lawrence. He also was an avid reader of the Bible. He was always eager to talk to anyone about how he saw the hand of the Creator in the astounding beauty and complexity of the cosmos.
Survivors include his son, Ryan Schleuder, Denver, Colorado; sisters, Linda Scott (Doyle), Miltonvale, Kansas, Bev Pfister (Phil), Woodruff, South Carolina, Pam Moon, Concordia, Kansas, Becky Novak (Mark), Formoso, Kansas, Patty Ensz (Ron), Inman, Kansas, and Laura Widen, Salina, Kansas; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Dolores, and a brother, Les Schleuder.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2022 at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2022 in the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas, with Pastor Bob Burns officiating. Burial of cremains will take place in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia, Kansas. Military honors will be conducted by the local American Legion Post #76 and V.F.W. Post #588, Concordia, Kansas, along with the McConnell Air Force Honor Guard, Wichita, Kansas.
