Betty Krier, 93

Betty Maxine Krier passed away March 6, 2023 at the Mitchell County Hospital Resident Care Center in Beloit, Kansas, at the age of 93. Betty was born March 28, 1929 on the family farm southeast of Glen Elder, Kansas, the daughter of Lloyd and Grace Schaffer Golladay.
She attended Honey Creek District 21 School, which is now known as "The Little Red School House" located on Highway 24 in Beloit.
Betty graduated from Beloit High School with the class of 1947. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator for over 30 years, before retiring in 1978.
Betty was united in marriage to Leon F. Krier on November 19, 1983 at the St. John's Catholic Church in Beloit. They lived in Tipton for several years before they moved back to Beloit. Betty was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, the Ladies Guild, was a life member of the VFW in Beloit, and a devoted member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was also a past member of the American Legion, as well as the Rose Valley Club of Tipton. She was a co-owner of Krier Farm Supply with her husband Leon for over 32 years.
She also loved to bowl, and bowled for over 30 years, winning several trophies. She also loved to travel, and went to Switzerland, Germany, France, and South America, and got to go through the Panama Canal.
Betty loved going to coffee with her friends at Gray's Drug Store and Soda Fountain, and missed seeing them greatly. We would like to thank her coffee group for watching over Betty prior to going to RCC, Lindsey Gray and Gina Chitty. Her family would also like to thank the doctors and nurses, and staff at RCC and the Mitchell County Hospital for such wonderful care in recent years. She loved being at RCC.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Leon; her parents, Lloyd and Grace Golladay; brother, Robert Golladay; sister, Joan Guard-Thomas; and a niece and nephew, Greg and Peg Guard.
Survivors include her niece, Gayla Guard of Merriam, Kansas; nephews, Gary Guard of Hays and Chris Golladay of Salina; sister-in-law, Delores Golladay of Salina; brother-in-law, Marvin Thomas of Hays; cousin, Jerry Rehmert of Beloit; and many great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 AM Monday, March 13, at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. A rosary service will be at 10 AM Monday at the funeral home, and visitation will be prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the St. John's Education Fund.
