Kevin "Pete" Bergstrom, 65 years of age, lifetime resident of Clyde passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at his home in Clyde surrounded by his family. He was born on August 27, 1957 in Concordia, Kansas, to Leonard "Shorty" and Lucille (Ehly) Bergstrom.
Pete was a 1975 graduate of Clyde High School, Clyde, Kansas. He graduated from NCK-AVTS, Beloit Campus, with a degree in Carpentry.
He married Debra Pellant and to this union two children were born, Erica and Devin. They later divorced.
Pete then met and married the love of his life, Sarah Taylor.
Pete retired from the City of Clyde after 23 years of community service. He previously worked for Feight Farms of Clyde and Derusseau's Farm Service for many years. Pete was a longtime bartender for the V.F.W. Post #7515 in Clyde as well.
He was a member of the Clyde V.F.W. Post #7515 Men's Auxiliary, American Legion Clifton S.A.L. Post #227, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde, Kansas. He also served as a Volunteer Fireman and EMS for the City of Clyde.
Pete enjoyed playing softball, motocross racing, morel mushroom hunts, Sunday coyote hunts, metal detecting including treasure hunt meets, playing cards, hunting, fishing, golfing, taking his pups to the golf course daily for a run while hunting for golf balls, an avid gardener, Chiefs Football fan, Kansas State Fan, going to local sporting events, especially watching his children and grandchildren compete. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren. Pete was a caring and all-around great guy.
Pete is survived by his wife, Sarah Taylor, of the home in Clyde, Kansas; a daughter, Erica Trost of Clifton, Kansas; a son, Devin (Erynn) Bergstrom of Clyde, Kansas; his four grandchildren, Kiara and Kameron Knox, Tyson and Charleigh Bergstrom; a brother, Mike Bergstrom of Clyde, Kansas; and a sister, Debra Landa, of Grand Lake, Colorado.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard "Shorty" and Lucille Bergstrom, and a brother, Daniel Leonard Bergstrom.
Pete's wishes were to be cremated and a Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde, Kansas, with Fr. Steven Heina officiating.
Inurnment will follow in the Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Clyde, Kansas.
After the inurnment the family has asked family and friends of Pete to join them and continue to memorialize and celebrate his life at the V.F.W. where a luncheon will be served.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the Chaput Mortuary, Clyde, Kansas.
