Donald Roy Brandt, age 99, died November 7, 2023 at Hebron, Nebraska.
Born August 25, 1924, at Nora, Nebraska, he was the son of William Brandt and Maggie (Petersen) Brandt.
He attended country school through the 8th grade. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
On March 16, 1947 he was united in marriage to Gertrude Charlotte Hinz at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Ruskin by Pastor Walter Moose. They lived and worked on several farms near Ruskin until they bought the current family farm in 1960 near Nora. Together they farmed and raised livestock.
They were blessed with six children: Barbara, Darrell, Leslie, Marilyn, Cheryl and Roberta.
Preceding him in death were his parents, William and Maggie; his wife, Gertrude on March 24, 2015; his beloved daughter, Marilyn Louise; brothers, Lester and Larry and his sister, Fern Schoof.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons and spouses, Barbara (Dale) Debrick of Littleton, Colorado, Darrell (Nancy) Brandt of Superior, Nebraska, Leslie (Joetta) Brandt of Ruskin, Nebraska, Cheryl Hoops of Freeport, Illinois, and Roberta Brandt of Aurora, Nebraska; 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; sister, Marietta Free; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Ruskin, Nebraska. Rev. Jose Flores will officiate.
Burial with Military Honors will be in Spring Creek Cemetery, Ruskin, Nebraska.
Memorials may be given to: Blue Valley Nursing Home, Spring Creek Cemetery or St. Mark Lutheran Church.
