The Mitchell County Commissioners conducted their weekly meeting at the Courthouse Monday morning February 12, 2024. All Commissioners and the County Clerk were present.
The Commissioners voted to declare the month of February as Teen Dating Violence Dating Awareness month in Mitchell County.
Marty Hernandez, Superintendent of Public Works, returned with additional bids for a lower door for the Sanitary Landfill. In addition to the one bid he had received for the door last week, he had secured additional bids. Each bid included costs of installation. The bids were:
• Town Door Company - $10,178.57
• Lake Construction Co. - Cawker City - $9,726
• Stroebel Door - Russell - $6,714
The Commissioners voted to accept the low bid from Stroebel Door Company. They have done business with this company in the past and have been pleased with the results.
Missy McGinnis, Emergency Medical Services Director, was on hand to discuss ambulance service fees. Accompanying McGinnis were two of her ambulance service employees, Caiten Britt and Ryan Scarrow.
EMS fees for services have not been raised for several years. McGinnis told the Commissioners that they need to raise fees before they fall even further behind.
The Commissioners voted to accept the following raises in fees:
• BLS (Basic Lifesaving Services) fees from $500 per call to $650 per call.
• ALS (Advanced Lifesaving Services) fees from $600 per call to $850 per call.
• Mileage per call from $13 per mile to $15.75 per mile.
• Charges for medication administered - previously no charge.
• New fee - Cost of medication plus $250.
• Call for Lift and Assist - help person to get back in a chair after a fall - Currently no fee. No change in charge.
Cortney Murrow, County Health Nurse, requested permission to improve the flooring in the Specialty Clinic.
• Install vinyl plank flooring in Room #1 - $1,243.75.
• Install carpet plank flooring in the two west exam rooms $2,059.89.
