Oliver Dean Kralicek was born on April 30, 1940 in Beloit, Kansas, to Rudolph and Hazel (Day) Kralicek. "Ollie," as he was known by many, attended Hunter Grade School and graduated from Hunter High School in 1958. After high school he went to Fort Hays State and earned his B.S. in Accounting.
After graduation Dean came back home and helped his parents operate the Hunter Meat Market until his father, "Butch" retired. Then he and his brother, John, ran the Meat Market until they retired in 2010. Dean was often heard saying his favorite part of operating the store was meeting with customers, especially the kids. Dean was an avid baseball fan and helped the kids' "Hunter Hawks" teams in any way he could. Dean was really just a big kid and would often buy himself the same toy he bought his great nephews and nieces.
Dean served his country in the National Guard for many years and was always proud to participate in the local Memorial Day programs at the American Legion Post #77 of which he was a lifetime member. Ollie was a regular at the Hunter Café for morning coffee and usually breakfast too. He especially looked forward to his morning visits with the guys after he retired. He continued this routine meeting for morning coffee with the "Dudes" at Hilltop in Beloit. Dean joined Trinity Lutheran Church in Hunter, Kansas, while in high school and was a lifelong member. Dean held many offices in the church and loved helping with various projects over the years.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Duane, John and Neil; and sisters, Marjorie, Loretha, Alaine and Betty. He is survived by his sisters, Mary Kralicek of Hilltop Lodge, Beloit, Kansas, Grace Keller of Olathe, Kansas, Sharon Kralicek of Overland Park, Kansas, and Bonnie Smiley (Bill) of Hutchinson, Kansas, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
