Diana S. Elyea, 74

Diana Sue (Huncovsky) Elyea, age 74, passed away in Belleville, Kansas, on November 5, 2024. Diana was born on June 21, 1950, in Salina, Kansas, to Kenneth Edwin and Bonnie Jean (Kalivoda) Huncovsky. She grew up on a farm near Cuba, Kansas and attended Hillcrest Schools graduating from Hillcrest High School in 1968. She later attended Cloud County Community College where she graduated with an Associate's Degree in Business in 1970.
Diana worked as a switchboard operator in Cuba and later as a medical transcriptionist at St. Joseph Hospital in Concordia.
She was united in marriage to Steven Breeding on August 7, 1971, and to this union two daughters were born, Hannah and Karas. Together they owned and operated the Lazy B Bar & Grill in Cuba for several years. As Diana and Steve went their separate ways, she began a span of 27 years working for Scott Specialties in the packaging depart. She married James Elyea on November 10, 1989.
Because of her love for baking, Diana began accepting requests from far and wide for anything that could be baked in the oven. Although she had orders for all kinds of baked goods she is best known for her expertise in making kolaches. Diana also enjoyed crocheting and finding a good bargain at garage sales. She was an avid cookbook collector. Most of all she loved to be involved with her family especially granddaughters, grandson and great-grandson, Archer.
Diana was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Bonnie Huncovsky; infant brother, Edwin Huncovsky; brother, Dale Huncovsky; nephews, Gabriel and Gordon Cossaart, and nephew Heath Cossaart.
Those left to cherish her memories, include her daughters, Hannah Langston and her husband Shane of Formoso, Kansas, and Karas Breeding of Courtland, Kansas; grandchildren, Kinzey Langston of Manhattan, Kansas, Khloe Langston and her fiancé Jim Brown of Clifton, Kansas, and Warren "Ren" Langston of Formoso, Kansas; great-grandson, Archer Mohler of Manhattan, Kansas; siblings, Charlene Tuma of Belleville, Kansas, and Lyle Huncovsky and his wife Lynn of Salina, Kansas; sister-in-law, LaVerna Huncovsky of Cuba, Kansas. Diana is also survived by her nephews and nieces, Quinton Huncovsky (Summer) of Manhattan, Kansas, Kelly Melton (Jimmy) of Belleville, Kansas, Kassi Huncovsky of Cuba, Kansas, Dustin Cossaart of Belleville, Kansas, Kagan Tuma (Jill) of Belleville, Kansas, Levi (Shearston) Huncovsky of Salina, Kansas, and Lexy Schwarz (Brian) of Salina, Kansas. Diana especially loved baby sitting her special little friend, Aria Anderson of Courtland.
Memorial Services will be Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 11 am at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville, with burial following at National Bohemian Cemetery #13, rural Cuba.
Family and friends may sign Diana's register book on Friday, November 15, from 9 am to 4 pm at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home.
