Audrey J. Atwood, 94, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Smith Center Health and Rehab, Smith Center, Kansas.
Audrey was born on June 1, 1930, in Valley Center, Kansas, the daughter of Charles F. and Nellie P. (Kehl) Triplitt. On September 22, 1948, she married Dean Atwood in Smith Center, Kansas. To this union they were blessed with six children, Larry, Marilyn, Beverly, Susan, Rebecca and Patricia.
She was a member of the Legion Women's Auxiliary and past member of the Over 60's Club. Audrey had several hobbies when she wasn't helping Dean on the farm. She enjoyed cooking, embroidering, quilting, canning items from her garden and tending to her flower beds. She also enjoyed playing softball with her children when a game would arise.
She was preceded death by her husband, Dean; three brothers, Charles F., Forest Dale and Billy Triplitt; and a granddaughter, Kristy Stewart.
Audrey is survived by her six children, Larry (Barb) Atwood of Lincoln, Nebraska, Marilyn Atwood of Omaha, Nebraska, Bev Mansholt of Lebanon, Kansas, Susan (Kevin) Heard of Austin, Minnesota, Rebecca (Norm) Williams of Papillion, Nebraska, and Patricia Sheley of Garden City, Kansas; ten grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at All Faiths Funeral Chapel, 113 S. Madison St., Smith Center, Kansas. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with family present to greet friends.
Burial will take place in the Sweet Home Cemetery, Lebanon, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to the Lebanon Volunteer Fire Department and can be sent in care of the funeral chapel.
