Jodie Douglas, born on July 12, 1967, in Denver, Colorado, passed away on January 2, 2025, in Wichita, Kansas. A devoted mother, sister, and aunt, Jodie was known for her honesty and kindness, traits that endeared her to all who knew her. She possessed a remarkable ability to foster connections among those around her, and her radiant smile had a way of bringing people together during both joyful and challenging times.
Jodie completed her education in Sterling, Colorado, graduating from Revere High School in Ovid, Colorado, in 1986. She further pursued her studies at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado, where she graduated in 1987. Her academic journey laid the foundation for a life devoted to serving others and nurturing her community.
Throughout her lifetime, Jodie found great fulfillment in her hobbies and the contributions she made to her community. She was passionate about knitting and took immense joy in cultivating her garden every year, eagerly participating in the planting and harvesting. Jodie was also deeply committed to her faith, often attending church and assisting with various events. She enjoyed riding horses years ago with her brothers and family. Jodie and husband Eric's favorite pastime was playing cards, Skip-Bo and Uno, which she grew up playing with her family. Fishing and yard sales were also among her favorite things to do with Eric and her family. She collected figurines and loved bears, wolves, eagles and horses. Her volunteer efforts extended to the Red Cross, where she dedicated time and energy, as well as to a local nursing home and the Federal Food Bank in Downs.
Jodie leaves behind her husband, Eric Rose of the home; beloved sons, Zachary Douglas of Hays, Kansas, Eric Lee Rose of Downs, Kansas, and Lee Rose and wife Christa of Seaford, Delaware; sister, Cindy and husband Steve Fowles of Salina, Kansas; brother, Dave Douglas of Bennington, Kansas; sister, Vicky and husband John Millard of Pueblo West, Colorado, and Lance Douglas of Omaha, Nebraska. Additionally, she is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews who will remember her fondly.
Jodie is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Peggy (Hollingsworth); her grandparents; her older sister, Terri (Douglas) Wagner of Klamath Falls, Oregon; her older brother, Scott Douglas of Bennington, Kansas; her nephew, Matthew Douglas of Texas, as well as a number of aunts and uncles.
As we remember Jodie Douglas, we celebrate a life marked by love, generosity, and unwavering kindness - a legacy that will continue through her family and the countless lives she touched.
A Celebration of Life will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday, January 26, at Schoen Funeral Home and Monuments, 1001 Morgan Ave., Downs, KS 67437.
