Nicole Marie (Ordich) Slaven, 55

Nicole Marie Slaven, daughter of Stephen and Rita (Russell) Ordich, was born on October 29, 1969, in Rochester, Pennsylvania. She passed away on June 28, 2025, at Bryan LGH Medical Center West in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 55 years, 7 months and 30 days.
Nicole was baptized into the Catholic faith in November 1969 in Midland, Pennsylvania. She grew up in Superior, Nebraska, and later attended Creighton University in Omaha, graduating with the Class of 1993 and earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
She was united in marriage to Stephen R. Slaven on November 5, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Nicole dedicated many years to her nursing career at Brodstone Healthcare in Superior and also spent time working at Davis Hospital in Layton, Utah. Outside of her professional life, Nicole was deeply devoted to her family. She took great pride in supporting her children throughout their school years and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren, who were the joy of her life.
Nicole loved the outdoors and shared many adventures with her husband, Steve. Together, they enjoyed golfing, scuba diving, and both water and snow skiing.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Ordich, in 2024.
Nicole is survived by her parents, Stephen and Rita Ordich of Superior, Nebraska; her husband, Steve Slaven of Lincoln, Nebraska; and her children, Megan Higer and husband Dakota of Hastings, Nebraska, Colton May of Concordia, Kansas, and Stevie Schafer and husband Quinten of Doniphan, Nebraska. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Julia Slaven and Zachary Slaven, both of Columbus, Mississippi.
Nicole leaves behind four beloved grandchildren, Roman Slaven, Kayce Schafer, Quincy May and Dusty Schafer. She is also survived by her brother, Scott Ordich and wife Susan of Mansfield, Texas; along with a host of aunts, uncles, extended family members and dear friends.
Memorial services will be held Monday, July 7, 2025 at 10:30 am at St Joseph Catholic Church, Superior, Nebraska. Father Steven Major will officiate.
Inurnment will be Monday, July 7, at 2:00 pm at the Webber Cemetery, Webber, Kansas.
Memorials may go the American Cancer Society.
Visitation and viewing will be from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Saturday, July 5, with the family present to greet friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at the Megrue-Price Funeral Home.
