Biographical Data:
She grew up in Nelson attending Nelson Public Schools graduating with the class of 1949. She attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. On December 16, 1953 she married Jack D. Long at the United Methodist Church in Nelson. To this union one son, Steven K. Long, was born. During her career in banking, she worked at the Commercial Bank in Nelson, the Continental National Bank in Lincoln, the Farmer's State Bank in Superior, and the State Bank of Chester in Chester. She was a memeber of the United Methodist Church in Chester, holding most all of the offices and committee jobs of the Church. She was Lay Member to Annual Conference for five years, she was on the Conference Council of Finance and Administration for eight years and also on the Board of Pensions for eight years. She sang in the choir for 54 years and directed the choir for more than half of that time, and enjoyed all her years of association with the choir. She also served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Board of Trustees for 25 years. She was also a member of the United Meothdist Women and held most of the offices and committee jobs there too. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Nelson and a member of the fomer Chester Women's Club. She was preceded in death by her son, Steven Long, her parents Earl and Rose: step father Henry Wehrman, Sr., parents-in-law, Duke and Nona Long; her sister Ann (Greenwood) Snyder, and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Guy and Betty Swanson; nephew and niece Henry and LeAne Chab, Lynne Swanson and step-grandson, Jordan Gausman. She is survived by her busband Jack; grandson James Long and wife Meaghan and great grandsons, Carter and Paxton Long; brother-in-law Russ Snyder; her nephew Scott Snyder and wife Juliene; her nieces, Pam Wehrman and husband Joe, Sharon Feistner and husband Johm, and many great nieces nad great nephews; and a host of very close cousins and great friends.
