Biographical Data:
Michael graduated from Eastern High School in Bristol, Connecticut, and immediately responded to the call to serve his country by joining the United States Navy in 1970. During his military service, he served honorably aboard the USS Thomas A. Edison, USS Tusk SS-426, and USS Von Steuben submarines. It was while stationed in the Navy that Michael's life would take a joyous turn when he married Claudia Smith on May 11, 1973, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bristol, Connecticut. Their union was a blessed one, founded in Christian faith and love.After being honorably discharged in 1975 as a Radioman 3rd Class, Michael remained a committed servant to both his country and community. He was active in the VFW, serving as Post Commander and District Commander, as well as being a member of the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge. His military affiliations were a great source of pride throughout his life.In addition to his service, Michael found joy in the simpler things of life. For over 30 years, he embraced the role of a professional Santa, spreading joy and love to countless families during the Christmas season. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Luke and Marjorie Dunn, and his siblings, John Dunn and Petra Dunn.Michael's legacy is carried on by his devoted wife, Claudia of Superior; his children Patrick (Amy) Dunn of Nelson, Nathan (Cally) Dunn of Beatrice, and Kelly (Terry) Everhart of Superior; and his five grandchildren, Kristen Dunn, Michael Dunn, Tyler Everhart, Katelyn Everhart, and Brody Wright. He is also survived by his brothers Mark (Ialeen) Dunn of Stafford Springs, CT, Brian Dunn of Terryville, CT, and his sister-in-law Marsha Dunn of Myrtle Beach, SC, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
